Stoke away post match thread

Has anyone blamed the officials for the result?

I don't but I do think we had yet another display of refereeing inconsistency. Otamendi got a yellow but the Stoke players didn't for similar offences.

I agree mate and its a norm now, but no excuse for the performance. One tackle at the start by Affely studs up on someone's ankle should of been straight red. Another incident he gave a foul against bony for an aerial duel, all bony did was stand their didn't jump didn't touch the other guy at all and wasn't offside. Still baffled as to why he gave that.

I couldn't understand why City didn't play their short passing game in those awful conditions. Stoke scored both goals by passing the ball on the ground and City resorted to kicking the ball up in the air. How Navas or Sterling are meant to control passes like that is just daft. They're about 5 feet 5 & the ball just bounced over them countless times. City are a great team when they play football. Why players try these 30 yard balls in the air I'll never know. Its plain lazy.

The only team with a technical advantage were playing at home. They played some lovely football and cut through us like the proverbial hot knife. Something which Southhamton managed recently after we went asleep after 25 mins and Liverpool done all night long. I'm sorry but injuries and tiredness just are not acceptable excuses for a defence which is the worst I've seen in years at City. If the manager cannot sort this out and quickly he should be sacked and replaced by someone who can even if this has to be an interim appointment. However, I am willing to give Pellegrini one last chance mainly because (Leicster excluded) our major opponents are equally shit and there is still time to rectify the damage. Also in the past he has managed to pull something out of the fire when things were looking bad e.g. after the shambles at the rags last season. Yes I agree that Kopmpany is crucial but to be honest hand on heart does anybody believe that he can stay fit for 3-4 months and lead us out of the woods. Keep the faith

1. If you think Stoke's players are better technically than ours, then you must have been watching a different set of games over the past 3 years. We were highly disorganized and downright lazy on Sat - and that's what made the result so galling. If it were Barcelona or Bayern, you shrug your shoulders and say yes, they are technically better.

2. The defence was unacceptable in large part because we are ravaged by injuries. You may have forgotten, but with Kompany playing, we have 7 clean sheets in 8 games.

3. Kompany has stayed fit for long periods in both our title seasons, so there is every chance he can now.

4. As for giving MP one last chance, you don't have a choice bud, cos he aint getting fired any time soon.
