2 - 0 to City.
There will only be one goal in it, as is always the case between Stoke and City it seems. I will gladly take a 2-1 victory tomorrow and a 2-1 defeat in the Cup replay but that may be optimistic. Here is a flash back to something I wrote before Saturday's game. Not wishing to gloat, just adding some realism to proceedings. I also said that, without the height of Richards/Kompany at the back and the speed of Tevez/Bellamy up front, we were fecked big time.

"Those of you demanding victories at home and away are greedy bastards. Firstly, Stoke have nothing left in their season except the FA Cup so expect a massive performance from them on Saturday. My prediction is a hard fought 1-1 draw, a replay unfortunately being the worst outcome for us. When we go to Stoke, we will get pushed, chased and hassled off the park. Expecting a 2-0 defeat, partly because their mad supporters will provide their 12th man. Don't forget they have just put six past Arse and Blackburn in their last two home games.".

STOKE 0 MAN CITY 2

The Game began at breakneck speed, Manchester's midfield , harrying and chasing, were the first to every loose ball.
Stoke looked a man short as city's Forwards broke at speed. The game soon formed a pattern, as Stokes long balls were
cut out by the commanding city Centre Halves. Adebeyor strangely playing in the centre of attack was winning plenty of aerial duals, While the right winger played out of position on the right and the one footed petrov, fired in a series of fine left wing crosses from the Left.

The first goal came from an inventive short corner, bellamy played it short to Johnson, who drifted infield, before reversing
a pass to the near post and the lively Gareth Barry finished sublimely.

Each of the city players seemed to know their job, and the workrate was immense, even at 1-0 they refused to take a breather. The 2nd, was inevitable and came in the 78th min, Ireland made another of those thilling 60yd runs, latching on to an inch perfect though ball from SWP, and made no mistake from 12yards, another thoroughly professional away performance from City, which seems to be a recurring theme of the Season.

Stoke were limited to the occassional long throw, but these were easily dealt with by the towering Given.

....................Given....................
Richards......Touré......Lescott......Bridge
............................................
...........Vieira.........de Jong..........
..................Ireland....................
SWP............................A Johnson
.................Adebayor..................

Free kicks - Ireland, is A Johnson any good at them?
Corners - Right: A Johnson, Left: Ireland,
Penaltys - Adebayor,
Captain - Touré.

Bench:

Taylor,

Onuoha,
Zabaleta,
Sylvinho/Garrido,

Barry,
Petrov, (or Ibrahim if Petrov misses this one)

RSC,

Subs:

If we're winning - bring on Barry/Zabaleta for Ireland/one of the wingers and play 3 DMs/Ireland on the wing.

If we're loosing - bring on RSC for de Jong/Vieira/Ireland and play 4-4-2, or bring on Petrov (If he travels) for de Jong/Vieira/Ireland and play 4-4-1-1 with A Johnson behind Adebayor.

Tough place to go though, only Birmingham, Chelsea and the Rags have won there this season. I desperately need us to win as the wife wins £321 on a work accumulator if we do and then I'll get a holiday.

I would like to see the following lineup

-------------------Given------------
Richards--Kompany--Onouha--Lescott
-----------------------------------------
SWP---------Barry--Vieira-----Johnson-
------------------------------------------
------------Adebayor--RSC--------------

Bridge rested and available for Liverpool

RSC isn't listed but I'm assuming he is available and hoping that Kompany and SWP will be fit enough to play

Leave SWP, Johnson and Adebayor (maybe) up top to counter their set plays
Richards, Kompany, Onouha, Lescott, Vieira and RSC all brilliant in the air

City to win 1v2 or 1v1 draw

This.....maybe bridge instead of Onouha n move Lescott over. Maybe De jong over Vieira. Vital Swp and Johnson play.....their full backs cannot defend against old fashioned tricky wingers, so utilising those two is key.
