Yeah they did that to us. We were herded there and couldn't leave unless on the buses they laid on. We finally got on a bus 20 minutes into the game, and when we tried to get a taxi the police tried to arrest us.

Last year we just walked out the station and went into town, no bother.

That Scream student bar they used to put us in has now been demolished. Unless they're talking about the uni itself, which on the left as you come out?
Last year they put us in the ballroom of the North Stafford hotel directly across from the station. Maybe they aren't doing that because it's a Saturday afternoon this year.

Dont know which one it is. If it has been demolished it must off been over the past two weeks. He was at the Stoke v liverpool game when he told me

If you're going without tickets expect to be put striaght back on a train home!!

How far is the station from the ground?

Stoke's ground is a couple of miles away. Bus 23 from Glebe Street takes 10 Mins. to Heron Cross then follow the crowd. It's another 10 mins. walk to the Stadium. Free bus back if you wish.
