Stoke Vs City Post Match thread

I'm trying to imagine Mason's mind set on the penalty - he'd turned down one trip on Silva, which he could have given- so he had to award the second one or he could have run the risk of appearing bent.
To be fair to him though , he wasn't as bad as first feared.

And he didn't give sterk a pen for the clear handball early on. Wouldn't have been surprised to see him award the spot kick and send Jimmy off

City fans will always still have that hope of another title, despite chelsea have a big points lead. We've done it before and we could do it again. With yaya and bony, I'm sure we will see much more fight to retain the title, but hoping chelsea to drop a 7 point lead is asking a bit much. We've got some very tough away fixtures too. I'll be much more confident if we get to the last 6 games and were only 5 points behind. I can see chelsea bottling it seeing as they've got a very hard last 6 games. But until, we can try claw it back.

Like you said, we can't win the league every year. This chelsea team is nothing special, they've been lucky we've had a poor injury record to our key players, I can't think of one injury they've had. City and United will be above them next season, theyre running out of players to sell on for mega prices and I can only seeing us and United strengthening and becoming to strong for them.

Biggest problem in overcoming Chelsea is their manager. Love him or hate him, he is incredible at getting teams to grind out results.

Yeah you're right. We've just got to remind ourselves what United did in 2012 to hand us the title.

Good win and 2nd half. Chelsea sneaking the win makes it largely irrelevant in terms of the title tho

Definitely relevant. If we'd lost we'd be 10 behind Chelsea, and just 2 in front of United. Probably worth winning I'd say!

Lots of positives. Big win when needed, and against a tricky opponent at that. Overcame a bad patch in the game and took control at the crucial moment. Drive all through the team, and some very slick play up front. Silva and Milner superb, Kun sharp and seemingly more involved in team play.

Words of caution. The defence still confuses me greatly. Every time Stoke came forward or played a ball into the box, I saw people switching from one opponent to another. Sometimes RB attacks the man, sometimes CB. Sometimes RB does and CB mistakenly goes with him. The DM usually covers but it's hard to know which side he's covering if the other CB comes across. Even then, sometimes the first CB starts to go with the fullback then slots back in and tells the DM to close down midfield. Or the wing. Or... something. Like I say, it was a bit confusing. If this is how it's supposed to work....

And it's no coincidence our best players were the 3 in the 4-2-3-1. Stoke got it all wrong tactically and left Nasri, Aguero and Milner tonnes of room to run at them.

Back on the positive, it was the sort of performance that should breed some confidence and strengthen the group. All to play for.

I said in the Pre-Match thread that I expected a result tonight - I did not expect 4-1 though. And it could have been a lot more which is good news, especially when you think that our Ivorians will be back for the next game..

Still some errors to iron out though with our passing in the middle and around the box. And Joe looked really uncomfortable for a time but again grew in confidence.

But the lads really put in a shift tonight - were they the same players that were so bad last Saturday? And some really good goals to savour at last.

Thought that Zabba had a bad game against Moses getting turned and beaten time after time. But he stuck at it and improved when he got cover from Jimmy (good tactical move by MP)

good game especially the 2nd half when we look back at our best we need to keep it up from now to the end of the season because chelsea will still lose pts they are not the invincible team most of us on here think they are Go Cityyyyyyyyy
