Stokes Goal Should Of Stood

goal looked good from other end of pitch last night, when got home, watched on tv and goal was good, shawcross jumped early and given imo jumped into shawcross a bit of luck to us.
didn,t see viera petulance until tonight so ok fa have charged him and 3 match ban likely, just like swp last season, but what about charging stoke player for repeatedly trying to kick his ankles ? same last season with the challenge by liverpool player on chelsea player nothing happened to them and he kicked him in the back in front of linesman no card given and fa did sfa !

who gives a fcuk the match is over and the result stands, dont forget we had good goals disallowed so far this season, and ones against us that should never have stood, but as they say what comes around goes around,it ends up evening out in the long run..

Goal all night long for me. Which makes it all the sweeter to get out of there with a draw and up to fourth. About time we had a bit of luck like that. The ref had a mare for both teams so it evens out. The game should have finished 9 v 10 for me.

Given made contact with Shawcross, not the other way around. Perfectly good goal disallowed.

As much as you hate it blues, take your blue tinted shades off, this statement above is correct, watch it again people, should have been a goal, i ain't complaining, we've had fuck all luck for years but that one decision tonight could be a turning point in this season.

I've watched it several times its was a harsh decision but it was the correct one. The stoke player did nothing wrong really it wasn't an attemp to foul Given he was just doing a natural jumping action (the arms go in the air and then push down). He did impead the Given though by holding him down, again let me make clear not intentionally. Intentional or not though it dosn't matter Given couldn't get into the air because of the stoke player arm holding him down which was why it was disallowed.

A similar one to this is when a defender gives away a penalty without even attempting to make a tackle. You know like the one when Dunne got sent of in the 8-1 battering we got against Middlesbourgh. There was no intention by Dunne to bring that player down he was just running across the back of the player to cover the outside of the net while the keeper came to cover the near post. There was the slightest of touchs though on the trailing leg of the attacking player that brough him down and denied him a goal scoring chance.

Guarantee if it had been Rooney and the rags who scored it, it would have stood. I thought we were very lucky to get away with it, but that's the way it goes. sometimes the rub of the green goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. Hopefully Shay learns something from it. He was half hearted at it. Should have attacked it with vigour. make up your mind early, if you are coming off your line then come at it hard and punch the shit out of it.

Quite right.

Referees are very protective towards goalkeeps in the 6 yard box and 9 times out of 10 will award a foul in favour of the defending team if ANY contact is made, or obstruction - intentional or not.
Yes, Shawcross jumped first, but in doing so, he impeded Given from being able to jump - foul. End of.
If the "Shawcorss jumped first" argument is sound, then all attacking teams have to do is to put a player in front of the goalkeeper, jump early in front of him and VOILA - you've taken the goalie out of the equation - free header anyone?

Is everyone forgetting that both Adebayor and Santa Cruz were given fouls against them for competing against Stoke's goalkeeper in the 6 yard box when high balls were floated in?
Both those challenges were far less innocuous than Shawcross's challenge.Wiley was in fact very consistent in this aspect of play.

Stoke are a very physical bordering on dirty side who are going to give away penalties and piss referees off.
City now have some defenders who are not intimidated by these tactics and will gives as good as they get - De Jong, Lescott and Viera.

Stoke fans complaining about Wiley's refereeing? Do me a favour - there must have been at least 20 fouls by Stoke and 10 by City that were not awarded.

But what do i care?

The ammount of times we've been fucked and bin done over by refs and had major things go against us so many times this season, never had any luck and we always come out second best, well tonight we got something, about time aswell.

Wiley is a twat but thanks for that tonight, Wiley from Staffordshire, refereeing a Stoke game? eeeeeek.

Bollocks... was a foul on Given... he collided with him and prevented him getting to the ball...
