M.E.N. version of events:

900 tickets for the FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Manchester City have been stolen from a Royal Mail van.

The tickets – all for Manchester City fans – were inside two bags of special delivery mail swiped from the back of the van on Ashton New Road in Manchester.

Police are investigating the theft and working with the Eastlands club.

In a statement today, Manchester City 'strongly advised' fans not to purchase tickets from unofficial sources. There are fears that the stolen tickets could now be sold on the black market.

All supporters affected are being contacted, the club said.

City have received a ticket allocation of 31,500 for the West End of Wembley for the April 16 clash, the club's first semi-final since 1981.

The van was travelling from the club shop to a Royal Mail sorting office. It is not known if the thieves had deliberately targeted the van.

In a statement the club said: “Manchester City are working closely with Greater Manchester Police and the Royal Mail in connection with the theft of special delivery mail items from a Royal Mail van.

“A number of tickets for the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium were stolen. All supporters impacted by the theft will be contacted by the club in the coming days.

“Supporters are strongly advised not to purchase tickets from unofficial sources.

“Only tickets purchased direct from the club will be valid for the game.”

Police added: “Shortly before 7.50pm on Friday April 1, police were called to Ashton New Road, Manchester, following reports two bags of special delivery mail had been stolen from a Royal Mail van. A number of tickets for the FA Cup semi-final were stolen and GMP is working with the Royal Mail and MCFC. Inquiries are continuing.”

Or it's just the theives' fault for being criminals, I guess...

You give me £100 to look after... you got a bit of a gambling habbit and you need this money to pay off your bills this month.

I put it next to an open window and leave the house. I come back and it's gone.

I'm not to blame in any way, shape or form... it's just the nasty criminal's fault?

Still not had anyone who was giving JMW grief answer this?
