Very good question bringing it down to one album.

Tbh, the ipod has totally destroyed the way I listen to albums (if I ever do they are on random cos I'm too lazy to change the setting) and this means I'm unsure.

I'd probably go for the Roses as that was the era I started going to pubs/clubs so means a bit more.........

I don't rate The Stone Roses too much, obviously got some great tracks on it, but for me personally Oasis piss all over anything they did.

The Smiths: Their body of work is far stronger

The Roses were great and they make you wonder what could have been if they would have held it together. They were an interesting fusion of so many styles yet their music was distinctly their own.

4-1 to the Smiths as far as decent albums go.

10-0 as far as business sense goes.

The Smiths though I do love the Roses too but when you get right down to the nitty gritty and look at it man for man then it's 3-1 Smiths (Reni scoring for the Roses) plus the roses had one decent album, half decent album and a few good singles. The Smiths had 4 top albums, singles and b sides that to this day havent been matched and the lyrics of little Moz.
