Stone Roses - Ten Storey Love Song

Not a great Roses song, by any means, but still pisses over almost everything Ian Brown has done in his solo career (with the exception of maybe Corpses and F.E.A.R).

Corpses is ace I agree.

Tears was the best track on Second Coming

I dunno if it's because I listened to The Stone Roses so much, but I find myself listening to Second Coming more these days. Overkill, maybe. Obviously The Stone Roses is a much better album, but I love Second Coming too. There's a few substandard tracks on there (then again I always skip Don't Stop on the first one), but Breaking Into Heaven, Driving South, Daybreak, Tears, Your Star Will Shine Again, Love Spreads... all great tunes.

I know what you mean, I'm so familiar with the 1st album I find Second Coming more fun to listen to purely as it makes a change. It's not the best album but it's a very good album and John Squire was in serious guitar hero mode.

Yeah, it was possibly self indulgent by Squire but rightly so. He was clearly the genius behind the Roses. Along with Reni. And Mani played his part, to his credit (even though he's the most bitter red bastard I've ever met - he lives round our way so I know). Ian Brown was a front man, no more. By all accounts didn't actually write that many of the songs. Don't get me wrong, he was cool as fuck in 1989 but now he's a bit of a wanker. Should have died young and preserved his status, like Curtis.

I'm inclined to agree.

When he started on that welsh guy from t4 on pop world, despite me not liking the welsh guy, i just thought he was a nob. Not to mention the fact that Clint Boon looked embarrassed and the welsh guy was twice the size of brown and would do him.

Also that clip on you tube of him kicking that guy who got on stage and started put me off, proper pussy tactic.

He's a bit too ghetto for his own good at times, he's arrogant but he dresses it up in cod street philosophy and 20 years of non stop weed.

As for Mani, he is a nob. I was in the hop and grape (i think) once with a lady friend and i pointed at an ad on the wall as i'd been talking about the band earlier with her, i didnt know but Mani was stood next to the ad and strutted over 'yes it's me'. He thought i'd been pointing at him!

The ladies were all over him though, I just thought 'man, i loved you lot as a kid but you are a bit of a cock arent you'

Mate, just accept it's all about opinions. You hate it, I love it. And probably some songs you love, I will hate!
It's a public forum and he put his opinion across and you decided to 'abuse' him for it and then 'cried' when he gave it back.

If we can't have an opinion then what is the point in this or any other forum?

Haha, ridiculous post. Gaudino rightly pointed out it's all about opinions (he loves the song, fat hombre doesn't). I don't recall him crying about it or abusing anyone. You then go on to back up gaudino's point by saying "If we can't have an opinion then what is the point in this or any other forum".

Exactly. Where did I abuse or then cry? I simply offered my differing opinion on the song. We could've then carried the thread on for hours, 'It's shit.' 'No it's not', so just said it's all about opinions, which it is.

IMO Ian Brown has been dining out on the strength of the, admittedly, very good,(but not great),Stone Roses debut for far too long.
The long-awaited followup was an anticlimactic pile of self-indulgent shite, and would probably have been consigned to the bargain bin had it been by a new band.
Browns solo stuff has yielded about half a dozen decent tracks, which is a pretty piss-poor return from 5 albums.
His "voice" is totally nondescript, his"lyrics" simplistic drivel and, frankly,if I never saw his gormless "thousand yard stare/do my cheekbones still look like a Little Hulton baghead"face again,it would be no great loss.
And a rag.
And not from Manchester.
