Bones of the Hills is a much better read than the second book. The battle scenes are superbly written :-)

Posted here cos you'd never find it in the books thread.

who is the author? Seems like fantasy to me which im looking for new authors to explore

Conn Iggulden mate. Not really fantasy, more like historical non-fiction, only with certain grey areas 'made up' and set pieces written as how it was possible they had taken place. If you get my drift.

Conn Igulden, it's not fantasy, it's historical fiction. Very good read though, especially the Empire series.
Did you check out Simon R Green ?

Don't expect anything but pulp fiction with Green, it's still very good though.
I know they are years old but have you read any of The Eternal Champion books by Moorcock ?

The other Eternal Champion books are

Elric of Melniboné

Corum of the Silver Hand

Von Beck

Hawkmoon

Each one is set in a different time/age/world and there are many books in each series. They are all The Eternal Champion reborn, his companion is always reborn too and sometimes he is aware of his previous incarnations, other times he isn't.
