How often do storms hit the UK which result in multiple loss of life? It's not every week is it? It's not every year either. Off the top of my head, I can only count them on the fingers of one hand. 1987, 1990, and 2007 spring to mind. There may be a couple of others that I've missed. I recall one around 1984 but not sure how many fatalities there were. Storm Doris in 2017 resulted in 1 fatality I think. So just like any other storm then?
Yeah i love a good storm when you can just watch it out of the window and hear it battering the outside. Bet the sea looks spectacular down there.I'm in Newquay now and you barely walk outside in it. Some tiles have blown off the roof at the hotel and fell into the carpark. Still it's pretty cool watching the storm never seen anything like it.
Probably worth staying in or wearing a coat and not standing under trees if you go out. I never realised Newquay was so exposed - might be a good surfing beach in gentler weather.I'm in Newquay now and you barely walk outside in it. Yeah it is the swell is unreal. Sea foam flying around. Taking blowing some cobwebs away to another level ;-)Yeah i love a good storm when you can just watch it out of the window and hear it battering the outside. Bet the sea looks spectacular down there.
So perfectly normal to have one or two every ten years then? Look at stats for excess winter mortality in old folk - a few day of nice frosty mornings are more deadly. How often do storms hit the UK which result in multiple loss of life? There's quite a few who have walked up to the headland. There's a bit where the waves are pretty big.Probably worth staying in or wearing a coat and not standing under trees if you go out. I never realised Newquay was so exposed - might be a good surfing beach in gentler weather.
Our media are truly toxic pushing hysteria over this "storm". I'm against censorship but hysteria needs cutting out.
Had enough off media bullshit from the pandemic which led to unnecessary bulk buying and business closure.
