Storm Dudley/Eunice/Franklin

Thankfully it’s not continuously raining. Should be enough to reduce the flood risk.

It doesn't have to continuously rain to be a constant worry, some folk have been flooded out twice in three years. Insurance through the roof, the expense in repair, then just when they're back on their feet it floods again, it's unprecedented, once in a generation floods happening every three years or so.

All this windy weather has blessed me with some of the best bike rides ever. There's no greater feeling than battling into the wind for an hour and then turning around and rocketing home in 5 totally serene, wind-free minutes. Arwen culled most of the knackered trees & walls around here so I've barely seen any damage lately.

Franklin is now battering us!
People have been evacuated from homes in Didsbury.

Storms aren’t all bad though,

Thunderstorms are also our natural air conditioners. Hot air at the surface rises up into the high atmosphere where the heat is put out into space. Clouds give us shade, and rain can cool down a hot day.[2] Without thunderstorms, the earth would be as much as 20 °F (11 °C) warmer.[2] In the summer, dust, haze, and other pollutants come together in the lower atmosphere. When the air rises, either in cumulus clouds or in thunderstorms, it spreads the pollution higher up into the atmosphere. Rain from thunderstorms washes away many of these pollutants out of the air.[2]

Lightning in thunderstorms also helps keep the electrical balance between the earth and the atmosphere.[2] Lightning is also fertilizer. When it splits through the sky, it changes nitrogen gas in the air to nitrogen compounds. These fall to the ground and are added to the soil. Nitrogen is one of the main ingredients in fertilizer. Ten percent of the nitrogen fertilizer needed for farming is made by lightning.[2]

Wet and windy in Lincolnshire/Notts.

Trains being cancelled because of flooding and a tree down on the line by Disley Tunnel.

Today by far the worse in Lincoln in recent weeks/days, non stop rain and blowing a hoolie.

I’ve just been out playing 6 a side and can honestly say it’s the worst conditions I’ve ever played in over the last 50 years. We even bailed out after 45 mins of the hour, like a fucking tornado. Horrendous.

Remeber these days though when we get the hosepipe ban in the summer, lol, and get told about how low the reservoirs are….

Yup. Started lashing it down around 2pm. Not quite as windy as Friday, but at least Friday was dry. Heavy rain also predicted for tomorrow morning, so that should be fun for the journey into work.

Petty all these storms couldn’t piss off over to Africa/Australia where it’s needed.
Nearly everyday it’s raining here and some places on earth hardly get any rain.
The world’s a weird place - spread the love Mother Nature and send some of that fine rain to our brothers & sisters abroad who need it.
You can blame Spurs for this rant!
You can send some over here
