Just wondering if anyone else is struggling with these new LED streetlights that seem to have popped up everywhere in the last 12 months?

I have had a few cases now where I am only seeing people at the last moment the same with some kerbing and potholes. I noticed that even the pavements directly under the lights are barely illuminated.

Its making me nervous driving in the dark now, they may be cheaper to run but they dont seem very effective to me.

I've just driven back from the cinema (pictures for the FOCs) and I said to Mrs Ewing that I was under the impression that the streetlights had been turned down. I agree that you can often see people only at the last minute and when poorly adjusted or over-bright oncoming headlights are approaching you are often past them before you realise that they are a 'body'! The fact that few people wear any kind of reflective gear, particularly on bikes, often without lights of any kind, and night driving can be a hazardous occasion.

They're hopeless, it's not about being "cheaper" it's about better for the environment, but they've replaced the old ones with the same number of the new ones, and I think you need double the LED's to get the same light, so that would mean double the number of lamp posts, not very likely.

It's not great for walking about either, as you can't see what you might be about to stand in.

Lol I read it as street fighting at first

Won't anyone think of the kids ffs.
New streetlighting makes it so much easier to mug foc's who can't see

That, and the stupidly bright (or badly adjusted) headlights some people have installed.

I just try and avoid driving in the dark as much as I can.
Yeah defo brighter headlights. New cars seem to have these piercing bright headlights which aren't even on full beam but blind you.
I'm the same trying to avoid night driving.

The latest trend in cars for LED lights is terrible for driving at night. Every car with LEDs dazzles other drivers. The light pattern spread with LEDs seems to be very badly controlled.

They're awful. Combined with the LED lights in cars it makes things a bit of a guess at times and no chance to see if there's anything that you need to avoid

A lot of headlight bulbs are not legally road compliant. But they’re sold in places like those shops who do knock-off versions of everything from the cheap versions of EarPods, iPhone chargers to car headlights. There’s one not far from me called Pound Express Plus.
