Strength in Depth Myth

I suspect there are different views to the OPs thread as there doesn't seem to be a common definition of what a strong squad is actually supposed to be capable of.

Does it mean we have quality named players available in every position? does it mean we can lose several key players and still compete with any PL team (that's what I think), or does it mean 1001 different things?

No myth here, we've been crippled by injuries. Simple as. Our replacements for Agüero, Yaya, Kompany and Hart aren't ideal but they are good enough to beat the likes of Stoke. In the end you have to look at Pellegrini and question his ability to change his system to accommodate the back ups.

stoke are a good team, teams like stoke are getting stronger and we shouldnt just expect to beat them so easily. all teams below the 'top' ones are stronger this year. if the desire was there from us yesterday then maybe we could have done

It's not an easy place to go, but we made it so, so easy for them. They (lowest scorers in the league) cut through us so easily, whereas we created nothing. That's 4 defeats already this season, and 4 consecutive away games (3 in the league) without a goal.
