Stuart Brennan in the MEN

To be fair to him, from the first day he took his job as City reporter I thought he did a good job of emphasising his willingness to treat us fairly (when he came on BM to talk to us etc) but he'd going far beyond what I ever expected of him with this article. I almost find myself wondering if he still considers himself a scum fan, because you'd never get me writing an article this critical about City, even if I was being paid to be the MEN's dedicated scum reporter.

Fair enough. I don't understand why he has to mention the French and WW2 however. Always seemed a bit of an odd remark to crowbar into anything that brings something French into a debate.
Because it was a history lesson.

Did you really enjoy reading that? Tabloid journalism at its finest. Creating a story on the back of 2 fans, with a dose of chauvanism, and the sub-text is City being mocked for being in Utd's shadow. i.e. we are in their shadow.

They maybe a bigger club for the moment, but they wont be forever and the gap, if it can be quantified, is closer now than it was 5 years ago.

How many times have we seen visiting fans for CL games at the Etihad always head to the swamp on their arrival in Manchester.
It's the rag PR in motion, no need to promote it.
To be fair, if I was the kind of person to visit a football stadium on the afternoon of a CL away game, I probably wouldn't go to the one that I'm already going to be visiting that night anyway.

Fair enough but would you put it on YouTube and take the piss?
You see too often to be genuine.

Oh no, they were obviously a bunch of knobheads and Brennan has rightly put them back in their place. I just don't really see an issue with them going to the Swamp instead of City. They were going to the Etihad that night anyway.

Agreed...it's no different than an away fan visiting Real's ground if they are playing Atletico or something similar

You can't argue about city being in uniteds shadow. We are and will be for a good number of year, but we are getting closer to them as each year goes by. His point about the desperation of united fans is spot on, no one gave a fuck about our empty seats 10 years ago. It's now the last stick they can throw at us and it's worked quite well for them, seeing as every football fan in the country now thinks we've got shit support, which isn't true.

Every football fan?
Wrong.
Let's show pity for the easily manipulated people who believe the propaganda perpetuated in the media for the benefit of their paymasters (right now one of whom being scum)

One day if the tide continues as it is, the mainstream media will have to switch their PR machine and jump on another bandwagon in this sport... Be it another football club.

If or when this time comes and they start to act like the sun shines out of our behinds - open up your internet cache and show this vermin gutter press what tripe they were writing about us whilst they were still latching on to their current paymasters.

Stuart Brennan came across as a genuine bloke with a interest in football and professed he wasn't a city fan when I met him. He does however have a job to do and this includes generating income for MEN.

There have been alot more improvements in the city section of the men website recently . I can't comment on the paper version as I don't read it but it has helped with people like Stuart coming along to supporters club meetings and actively listening to what we've had to say and what we want to see in the MEN.

Up until last night

it was an intersting point about sponsors and the need for the club to keep saying they are biggest and most supporters.....

I have always wondered if some ex-utd player pundits have the bias they do becuase they are being paid by their club to keep the illusion alive for the sponsors... But I am far to paranoid today

Last season when we played in Munich we went looking for the 1860 club shop. When we got there it was even smaller than the old one outside Maine road in the 70s. And when we went in there was about 12 other City fans in the shop. It's about getting different perspective

Clubs develop on the back of developments in the real world. No club has been through more, or changed more than MCFC.

Think where we were in 1998 and where we are now. We've gone from despair to league title winners and Champions League semi-finalists just one rung below Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern.

If we do things right, and the investment continues we will grow and grow. When I started supporting City, we were declining after the Mercer and Allison years and Utd were on the up. Now roles are reversed. It's all yet to play out, but nothing stays the same or is fixed although at any given moment it may look that way.
