Stuart Brennan researching for today's M.E.N

What was the actual piece about? All I remember doing for Weds paper was two pieces with Nedum and my diary/blog.
Was it the piece earlier in the week which started "Forget Messi" and so on?

Stuart why no mention of the UAE and one of City's top players who later managed in the country.

Was it this one: <a class="postlink" href="http://blogs.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/worldcup/2009/11/stuart_brennan_in_abu_dhabi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://blogs.manchestereveningnews.co.u ... dhabi.html</a>

I doubt if it was pulled - maybe it was wrongly posted up on the main news site when it was intended as a blog, and then just shifted to the blogs section once the mistake was realised.
Not sure why it was seen as being a dig at City. That was my experience on the first day, and one or two others out here have found the same.
I had a chat with the chaitrman of City's AD supporters club, and he said pretty much the same, that all the locals tended to support United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, but that might be changing.
Having been here two days now, I get the impression that people appreciate the fact City have come to AD. I was just making the point, perhaps badly, that maybe the only way City will truly win hearts and minds is to win stuff.
The Bobby Charlton reference was because of the old thing about getting into a taxi anywhere in the world and mentioning Manchester and they tend to say "Ahhh Bobby Charlton, Georgie Best ..." etc
And Bobby Charlton was on my flight

Maybe your interpretation as a journalist of being `pulled` is different to mine but I`m sure you understand what I meant ? but that blog looks similar anyway mate and thanks for the explanation.

Respectfully I think the comments were made as it appeared as a legitimate article rather than a blog, if a mistake was made then fair enough and given my understanding of what a blog is then I certainly don`t have any desire/wish to ask for any explanation on your personal thoughts on it.

My personal observations though , seeing as you`ve raised the point here with the comment :-

"Not sure why it is seen as being a dig at City. That was my experience on the first day, and one or two others out here have found the same".

Are, that if it was such a news/noteworthy comment to make then why was it not included in the published article ? To me that indicates you may be aware of the possible inflammatory nature of it, no ?

Anyway that`s just my own personal thoughts on the matter and thanks for your time Stuart.

PS, in all my time travelling abroad and mentioning where I`m from I`ve never once had the `Bobby Charlton` or `Manchester United` comment made, even with my Lass wearing her United dust cloth :-)

So United are worried about us enough to send Charlton checking on our youngsters are they?

Being serious though, was Mr Charlton also watching the UAE v City match or just out there, by coincidence, on holiday?

He was there on behalf of United to hand back the Club World Cup, and to make the draw for the next one, which is next month in AD.
