I will write to the club and just say that basically, they are alienating MCFC fans who are students at other unis and colleges by practically giving away tickets to Manchester Uni students who are, let's face it, probably not even interested in the club.
It would be much better to have tickets that were say 30% discounted for all students on production of a valid student photo ID (college or university). That way the club aren't always aimlessly throwing away about a few hundred tickets to Manchester Uni regardless of the interest in the game. For example, do you reckon that the manchester uni students will be taking up their full allocation of West Brom or Bolton tickets? Doubt it. I've spoken to a few people there and they've all told me the same thing. People que up to get tickets to the big games, Rags, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. At the end of the day these students are like tourists there to see the big 4 and take pictures. Fair enough, but they are keeping REAL blues out of the stadium by taking up seats.
If the club go with my idea then there isn't a SET allocation of student tickets like there are currently (for just ONE uni!!) and it is a much fairer policy. Also if the club are under some sort of false pretence that they think they are "winning" a new generation of City fans at Manchester Uni (notice how Man Met and Salford aren't included in the discount!!) the good thing about my plan is that Manchester Uni students are still entitled to the NEW student discount just like everybody else.
I'll get the letter sent out first class to Cookie in the morning :)!
