Ok, I've calmed down, gathered my thoughts and now after seeing what happened on saturday I am ready to post again!

I have to say that the first thing that is becoming blatently obvious to me is that Studge is simply an impact player, he just isn't as effective over 90 mins as shown on saturday. He wasn't the only one who was poor but I think it was him that i was mostly dissapointed in as I was finally coming round to thinking he would be great.

I did think that Zabby and Vinny were superb and, rather worryingly, them 2 seemed to show most passion on the pitch.

Richards has finally done what we feared and believed his own hype and he needs to change his way of thinking now or he'll become a very poor defender when he could have been a world beater.

That being said tho, chin up. Things will look a lot brighter at the end of Jan I am convinced.

CTID and all that!

Tend to agree with you there Manc.
Only game Studge has made an impact from the start was Schalke away

I have to disagree. I thought Sturridge tried to make an impact on Saturday and will turn out to be a quality player

Having spent a lot of time watching the reserves and youth team over the last 5 years, i can attest the fact that Daniel Sturridge has an abundance of talent. His finishing is instictive when inside the box, he can place shots from distance and has enough to beat defenders one on one.

However - he is a lazy sod. For too long he has been told he is the best and so lacks that bit of bite and grit that you need to be truly exceptional. If ever a player would benefit from a season in a lower division then this is the one.

I wouldn't play him until he learns to pass a ball consistently.

I agree with the OP, every time he has started he's done nothing but try to win the game on his own. He needs to grow up, realise he isnt gods gift, and start playing for the team.

Too much of a big time charlie but....a talented lad nonetheless.

+ 1. I thought he was one of our better players on sat and looked a slight threat at times, he was on the left again remember which isn't really where he's best

And anyway, he's only 19, we've got to get him signed up to a long term deal

Sturridge has very rarely had a decent run of games. He plays one then gets put back of the bench for a while and gets a 10 minute run out. Saturday was probably the worst game to fashion an opinion of him.

Apart from changing his "gods gift" attitude is to learn that the role of a striker can be broken down into two parts-one when you have the ball 2 -when a striker needs to work off the ball.

Frustrated me on saturday watching him and Caciedo far too static and not working the forest defenders when they didnt have the ball. All part of the learning process maybe.
