My mistake, it was even more than that at 45K a week. That is filthy money. You could make me the last person on the squad for that money and I would be perfectly content cheering on my teammates from the sidelines.
 
I feel sorry for Studge in a way he is a terrific talent and I would love if he signed a new contract because he is going to be an outstanding player, But however his advisors is, they are going about this in a totally wrong way, they will ruin the lad if they dont get him to sign.
 
Well said, why not take it year by year and take the 45K and reevaluate the situation after next season? Looks like the adviser has pound signs in his eyes.
 
If we were to have stopped paying him when his contract expires then he could walk away for nothing.

However the club has the right to choose whether to continue paying him at his old terms or not, in this instance we have. This means we retain his registration and so any fee will be set by a Tribunal.

As he is under 24 this fee will not only take into conisderation his current Market Value, but will also compensate the club for the resources put into Training him during his time with the club. If he does leave, it will be the biggest ever Tribunal fee, even though he is on a "free". Any club that signs him can expect to be paying £10mil+.
