Don't know if we're gonna do that just incase there is any problem getting back to Stuttgart - may just hang around but don't know yey

Looking at the trains think it should be ok, think Karlsruhe is 3.30ko so leave ground at 5.15 so hopefully should make airport by 7/7.30 no probs with only carry on bags and already checked in. Fingers crossed

After a bit of thinking I've booked to go to this. I had been considering a different trip over to Germany that weekend but around Cologne and Dusseldorf instead. I can justify the cost of it a bit easier if City are playing.

Flying from Birmingham Friday morning going back Sunday night. Intending to go to Kaiserslautern on the Friday night (1hr30min away on train) and looking at Karlsruhe on the Sunday but the timings are quite tight for that. Pretty sure I'll take my chances and go anyway though. I think its gonna be £285ish all in.

I went to Stuttgart's ground last year and its a lot quicker to go on the S-bahn than the U-bahn from the Hauptbahnhof. As previously mentioned there is a really good beer garden type place at the ground, so get there early/stay later. Long range forecast is sunny and about 25 degrees. I didn't see much of the city (I don't think there's much to see anyway) but the Schlossplatz is nice and we got a good meal in a brauhaus just off the side off it.

Not heard about tickets yet, but I'd happily sit/stand in the Stuttgart end. I've sat in a couple of away ends in Germany (for Bundesliga games) and there is a nasty habit of giving away supporters alcohol free beer. Not sure if that's the case in Stuttgart or not though but I'll try and find out.

I think I followed the crowd to Bad Canstatt station. Looking at Google maps, 'Neckar Park' station is closer and also brings you out at the away end section, but I think the line splits after Bad Canstatt so the trains aren't as frequent to Neckar Park.

For some more general advice, I use this website a lot for my Bundesliga travels. If you play around with it a bit, there's another page with a bit of advice about the city of Stuttgart too

Sounds like a bit of a ball-ache to access the away section, but at least it sounds like the beer is alcoholic.

anyone hazard to guess whether tickets will be for us as 'away fans' so we will be in one section? or just all mixed in together?

The away section is the pink corner below. Give City a few days to sort themselves out and I'm sure we'll be able to get tickets through the City website.

thats alright then, cheers ;)

The big difference I've noticed with German football is the number of away fans who frequent the home end, without a hint of trouble.
I saw Stuttgart lose to Hertha Berlin, on the same day that City beat Stoke 1-0, a couple of season ago. Hertha scored a late winner, and everyone around us seemed to celebrate.
From memory, the official away end was a terrace in the corner to our right.

Yeah I find it a bit weird. Similarly there's no segregation at Dortmund and Bayern so we end up sharing toilets, kiosks, and stairs. Its good that they can do it, but just completely different to what we are used to.

For anyone in Stuttgart on the Friday night, Stuttgart II have got a game against Preußen Münster at 7pm local time. Its a 3. Liga game (equivalent of League 1), and I'd expect it to be €5-€10 to get in. I think I'm right in saying they play at the GAZI Stadion (home to Stuttgart Kickers aswell) but you can get there on U-bahn line 15.

Can anyone recommend the best area of stuttgart to stay in? is there an old town like in dusseldorf?

Our plan is to spend friday night in munich, train saturday morning to stuttgart, stay over in stuttgart and then train back to munich to sound day there and late flight home. Is there anything in stuttgart worth having around for?
