This is a piece on Suarez headbutting a referee when he was 15. Poor Luis always the victim.
Really good read. Thanks for posting. It explains a lot and puts his reactions into context. He does need psychological help though; not winning isn't going to take away his £ms or his family or their love. Sad.
I disagree with the whole "He needs help". Trying to turn this into some kind of addiction like crack or heroine. He's made a conscious decision on 3 occasions to bite someone. His conduct after the fact proves it's not some out of control mental issue otherwise he'd admit he'd done it. I just think it takes away his responsibility in the incidents and turns him into a victim of some issue out of his control which is BS. He's been allowed to get away with this crap for far to long and he feels entitled. Hence the "I'm being persecuted" nonsense he's always spewing, be it the diving, the biting, the headbutting, the racial abuse etc.. Because he has gotten off light every time he feels entitled and that he'll get away with it. And he has. So now that they have properly punished him he's shocked. If the FA had given him a proper ban the last time we wouldn't be in this position. They should have banned him for at least double what he got for the Ivonovich indecent and stipulated than any other indecent in the future, biting, racial etc.. that he would be banned for life. That would have been the end of it.
I'm not sure I entirely agree.
He clearly DOES have a few issues. I don't think it's an excuse per se, it's just the nature of him. Plenty of other players have similar trouble controlling themselves: Roy Keane / Balotelli / Duncan Ferguson and many others. In his case, it's manifested in his biting antics, in others its some other nasty habit.
I don't think he's gotten off lightly, I think he's generally paid a fair price for his actions, and continues to do so. Only it's costing him more and more each time (or rather costing his club more and more each time).
By all means, get the lad help, but the moment he steps on the pitch, he still has to live by the same rules as everybody else.
Banned for life would be madness, he's getting his 4 months, and next time it might be 8 months / a full season. It's his choice how he wants to deal with that. And if it's NOT his choice, and it's some mental issue he has, then it's his club's choice to take the gamble with him or not.
Every time City played Mario - we knew the gamble.... he might do something wonderful, or he might do something stupid. It's precisely the same for Liverpool, only with Suarez he does more wonderful things than Mario ever did, but now, he carries a much larger risk than Mario too.
He's simply just upped the ante at the 'Suarez temper' gambling table. Liverpool can't complain if they take that gamble.
