id take 5th and a cup final (win or lose)

are you fucking mad?

if you thought getting knocked out of the cups by a pub side was bad getting beat in a final is ten times worse !

if we get to a final we must win it or the press will have a field day

Good shout mate. Losing doesnt come into it, and fuck what the press think, im thinking we, as blues have had enough shit times, we mustnt settle for 2nd best ever again.

Top 6 next season = success
A good run in one of the cups would be nice.
Anything outside the top 6, and a cup defeat against lower division opposition would be abject failure.

City need to ensure we're consistant to break the top 4. No more losing to Stoke and Wigan away etc. If they can get a long run of games together unbeaten, there's no reason why a top 4 place isn't achievable. A good run of form brings confidence so thats the main key for me. Everything else should fall into place if the team spirit and belief is there. They've certainly got the talent thats for sure. My hope is to win the FA Cup against a very good side like Arsenal or Villa. That would be a huge boost to the club and a fantastic day for the fans. Failure this coming season would be to finish up exactly as last season, outside the european places and an early exit out of the cups to frankly, shit sides. That would be very bad for the club morale in my opinion especially when you look how much hard work has gone into reshaping everything about the club since the takeover. It would mean we haven't moved on whatsoever which would be totally unacceptable to the owners and fans alike. I don't actually see that happening though, I see a very enjoyable and exciting season ahead but with the odd pitfall too which we always expect! Delighted with 5th, over the moon with 4th, ecstatic with 1st!! Come on City!!!

Mr Al Muberak and our owner have been fair and reasonable enough to write off last season as a settling in period for Hughes. Even though we have added to the squad, most of the players will have had plenty of time to settle.

They have said top six is the target for this season and with the squad we are building it is easily achievable considering we should have qualified for Europe last season. As for the domestic cup competitions, we have just as good a chance as anybody of winning something.

The underlying message is top six or we part company and that is more than fair. Ancellotti at Chelsea will have similar demands put on him relatively speaking irrespective of who he brings in. Why should Hughes be treated any different?

For us there will be no 56-game season, no fixture build-up very few midweek games and a squad good enough and big enough to keep things nice and fresh.

There will be no excuses. But you can bet your life that if we are 7th,8th,9th come April/May there will still be people on here making excuses having a go at the 'Hughes outers' as they call them.

This club that we all love is being run better than I have ever known. They are ambitious but realistic at the same time and they have a totally different mindset regarding the future of Manchester City F.C.

Bring it on!! I say. I'm up for the ride and when times are tough it's time to get tough with the times.

There are still many of our fans I feel do not appear to have shifted up a few notches when it comes to ambition and mindset.

If they choose not to change, this club will leave them behind and they will be better off supporting Wigan or Bolton.
Simple Chelsea are established top 4 we are not thats the difference and why top 6 is a sensible target The chairman knows you don't go from 10th to top 4 in a season my heart says top 4 but my head says 6th lets walk before we run the good times are coming and are not long off

lets walk before we run
Why? With the players we have now, and those yet to arrive, we can sprint whilst the others try meekly to place one ageing limb in front of the other.

Who was it who once famously said: "It is not enough that I win, I have to destroy the opposition as well", or words to that effect?

Because it's not just about the playerrs it's having the right mentality in the squad something we all call typical City. Much as I hate that tag it's true we probably need a season to get that right then top 4 shouldn't be an issue

We have bought a team under Hughes, most with proven premiership ability and sheer quality, of course we should be able to run. No excuses we need to challegne the top 4, more importantly we need to win consistently espeicially away from home.
