Sunderland (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I disagree imo Nunes is one of best full backs in the league. The big problem was both central defenders were slow. Kusanov would have been better handling the long balls.

Sunderland were excellent in giving us no time on the ball. Really poor performance by Haaland.

Sometimes you need some luck and in this game it was missing
I'm no way saying Nunes is a bad player. He just isn't a defender. A wing back, perhaps. He just hasn't the rough and tumble in him. Pissed off with him last night, he just gave up.

For the size and physique of Haaland I can't understand why he gets knocked about by any player that tries a bit harder
He was absolutely shocking last night
Not the missed chances just is all over attitude he needs to stop thinking he's world class until he actually is

Got back at 0115hrs.
Great trip. Always welcoming are the Mackems.
Positives..Rodri, Gigi, Dias.
Negatives..Haaland shite, Foden shite, Savinho shite and a player who is simply not and never going to adapt to the rigours of premier league football.

We have different views, I think his tackling is good and at one stage last night he had 2 players on him in a tight situation which he won and started a counter attack.

He is also very fast on the recovery. The alternative would be Rico, skilful player but not suited to being a full back. Kusanov for me is best as a central defender

Pep seems to have ditched the inverted full back tactic. The fullbacks are expected to provide width and have the speed and energy to get back.

Sunderland do the one thing all fans ask for. When they put that shirt on they run throigh brick walls and the effort is never lacking.
When we were crap we had 3 players who are regarded as legends who were never the best players,I give you Morrison ,Horlock and Dickov they did what Sunderlands players did last night.
Andy Morrison saved us. He made the cake. Kevin Horlock was the icing. Paul Dickov provided the cherry. Here we are now.

genuinely don't understand what game you were watching last night, to be quite honest. Also don't understand what games you have BEEN watching the past few months if you don't think nunes has the "rough and tumble". just a baffling opinion.

Met some Sunderland fans who took us around town, what a cracking place, good bars, friendly people, loved it. BTW, they paid 36 pounds for the 2nd best category seats and their fans are not lumbered with membership fees, that’s why they keep their identity and can fill the ground with locals
That's all good mate but if they win four titles in a row and two trebles it may change.

4 mins injury time was an absolute joke saying that we could have played for another 30 mins and not scored it was just 1 of them nights!! Wasn't a bad performance by any means 9/10 with the chances created we win that game. And yes there was a couple of players out there last night that just didn't fancy it imo.

Disappointed not to win yesterday but City played well in the 2nd half and we just didn't take the chances we created. Credit to a very physical Sunderland who made it very hard indeed. I like their coach Regis Le Bris and he gets the very best out of his team unlike that moaning dinosaur Dyche who sends out his Forest team to cheat.

Rodri was a major plus last night. He was so sharp in and outvof possession - his fije range of passes broke the lines so quickly.
Regis Le Bris? Wasn't he the camp theatre director in The Producers?

Will sound like a bit of a cop out, but nobody on that pitch wanted to be there yesterday with it being NYD in my opinion.

The same could be said about every footballer playing yesterday as there was 4 awful games. Three 0-0's and one 1-1.

They are on a lot of money, but human nature will have kicked in with those lads seeing all their fellow professionals who played on Tuesday celebrate NY at parties with their loved ones whilst they are all stuck in a hotel on NYE in Sunderland.

Had the feeling when the first two games were on yesterday the game was going to be a concern for players turning up.
