Sunderland (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

sadly it does, and to what point? City with 40000 season ticket holders 130000 members and we cannot fill the ground, getting something wrong somewhere
I agree that they have got it wrong but I suppose the solution is in the middle. They can't think we are Liverpool relying on Ireland and Scandinavia but we can't grow on a thirty mile radius. Sunderland will never have that problem as like Newcastle it's frontier land with no other club. Ditch the membership fee I advocate.

Will sound like a bit of a cop out, but nobody on that pitch wanted to be there yesterday with it being NYD in my opinion.

The same could be said about every footballer playing yesterday as there was 4 awful games. Three 0-0's and one 1-1.

They are on a lot of money, but human nature will have kicked in with those lads seeing all their fellow professionals who played on Tuesday celebrate NY at parties with their loved ones whilst they are all stuck in a hotel on NYE in Sunderland.

Had the feeling when the first two games were on yesterday the game was going to be a concern for players turning up.

Said the same thing at full time yesterday when I saw the score. No one wants to be playing on NYD in the freezing cold

Sunderland are nothing like Newcastle.
It's a very small city, with a huge neighbour on it's doorstep.
Sounds familiar ?
The City, was a town until recently, is a great welcoming place that goes very much under the radar.
NUFC fans, generally, think they deserve success because they have no regional big rival and are now owned by the Saudi's.
Well done SAFC last night, the performance by a depleted team was excellent.
City took too long to take risks last night - that's why the League title may not be won.
Putting on The Reindeer or another match-winner was Pep being too cautious.
HIs moan about 4 minutes added-on time was embarrassing...

Should have won that easily, but unfortunately all the best chances fell to our poorest finishers!

Sunderland fans celebrating like they'd won was hilarious!
We thought our unbeaten record would go as to the weakened nature of the squad! So a draw gains one of the biggest clubs in the world was a great point. Maybe that was why we celebrated?

Well the ref is a complete **** but we know that from the FA cup final.

Shame it ended a good run.
We’ve done remarkably well with such an intense few weeks so I guess dropping points was inevitable.
it’s a good point at a difficult ground

Let’s hope Semenyo signs soon and Savinho can then fuck off.
Sunlan had problems with this referee too! He sent off Dan Neill for abusive language during a Derby game with Middlesbro a couple of years ago. Then a week later we watch him getting a mouthful off man utd players on a TV game. No action taken! Astonishing

Sunderland and their fans reacting like they've won the league, arf. Their fans cry more than the dippers
9 times out of 10 we win that game but shit happens
Savinho just not good enough, move him on.
Sunderland have recent third tier history. Their fans aren't gloryhunters. Maybe look at yourself as a person?? There has been a lot of really sporting replies from city fans on here about NYD! Sadly yours isn't one of them

One thing I would say they put that effort in against every team that goes there! So can’t say they didn’t do that against other teams they haven’t lost at home this season
Correct it's great to see the effort sunlan put in! Like yourselves we have third tier history due to recruiting ageing players who viewed the club as a last pay day

Sunderland came at it like a cup final.

There's a couple of chances we bury on any other day, but games like that, sometimes a point isn't the worst thing. We're OK.

4 points behind Arsenal at the halfway point. We know they can't sustain that.
We play like it's a cup final every week

I wish Sunderland well, I just thought that the crowd reactions were over the top.

I have always liked Sunderland, proper football fans. What’s the 6 in a row reference, pal?

We were in the 3rd division a couple of years ago so to hold city was an immense result. We have a lot of respect for city as we have both plunged the depths. Oh and we both have ugly sisters! Hope you edge out the arse!

I thought a draw was a fair result overall. Good luck for the rest of the season!

I'm no way saying Nunes is a bad player. He just isn't a defender. A wing back, perhaps. He just hasn't the rough and tumble in him. Pissed off with him last night, he just gave up.
Just been back through your football posts pal, everyone is negative, are you sure football and in particular City is the thing for you?

For the size and physique of Haaland I can't understand why he gets knocked about by any player that tries a bit harder
He was absolutely shocking last night
Not the missed chances just is all over attitude he needs to stop thinking he's world class until he actually is
The trouble with Haaland is that, in these tight games, he allows himself to be drawn into a physical battle instead of fully focusing on running off the ball into dangerous positions and constantly pulling those defenders out of position .... we've seen it time and time again in matches against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

At times he just doesn't move around enough and he makes it easy for defenders to either contain him or foul him ...... if a team puts two or three players on him then that leaves gaps for other city players to exploit, but he needs to start getting to the ball before any of those defenders and actually laying it off fast to a sky blue shirt .... Haaland needs to play to his strengths, getting involved in wrestling grips with defenders 30-40 yards from goal gets you nowhere!
