Sunderland Appoint Ricky Sbragia as New Manager on 18 Month

Well done to the guy, think it suits all parties as Ricky even said he doesn't want the limelight and to do press conferences, which is why he has never become a full time manager. Maybe this will give the mackems some breathing space to find a more permenant appointment which they will need after the short tenure of Keane.

Or on the flip side, does anyone think this is because of a lack of managerial talent available at the moment?

I can't see that ending well. Once the 'New Manager Syndrome' wears off they will go into freefall, IMO.

Hughes will be the next Sunderland manager. You read it first here.

Sounds like a sensible appointment, but will the upturn in form/results last?

There aren't any obvious managerial candidates out there

Current bottom 3 look vulnerable along with Pompey.

Strange choice really, I know he's done well in the three games in charge but hardly going to attract the big names.

Newcastle did the same thing with Glenn Roeder and he was a disaster.

Excellent choice of word!

The rot starts now, the pressure is on.

18 months is nothing these days, it is a short term appointment.
