Sunderland Thread | 2025/26

We definitely played them at the right time after still being knackered from playing at Klanfield.
We got to their place in January and I expect a totally different game.
Happy to take a point now.CTID

Sunderland:Newcastle is the best derby rivalry in England.

Missed yesterday’s game due to our game at Palace but the vitriolic hate between these two cities that goes back as far as the English Civil War isn’t really matched with any other rivalry in England.

The way both sets of fans line the streets to ‘welcome’ each other to their grounds with pure hatred is always a good watch and the atmosphere is always electric for these derbies.

A fascinating interview with one of the world's greatest players...
After a FA cup final result which would have delighted the footballing world...not least the OP of this thread ; )

Not just one of the greatest players of all time, but a brilliant manager too.

It’s clear from this interview that he had a great tactical and analytical brain.

And of course, he was the mentor of one, Pep Guardiola.

In essence he was saying Leeds were arrogant.
Yes, and it's pretty astounding Leeds were over confident
When you look at the way Sunderland dealt with 1st Div Arsenal in the semi final....footage of which I posted ' randomly ' a few months ago. Anyone watching that full game between Sunderland and Arsenal, would surely have known not to underestimate the team from the lower division...Sunderland players fought tooth and nail against the mighty Arsenal in the semis...and won.
Leeds should have been better prepared.....oh well, what a shame.
