I think it's important to keep consistency next to demichelis. Nastasic has been poor and sunderland likely to rely on long balls forward. Clichy has been woeful.

Silva didn't look majorly injured to me

This doesn't make any sense to me. You want consistency but suggest breaking up a CB pairing who are developing an understanding and improving. And you will do this by introducing a rusty, slow and error prone CB in Lescott and a slow LB. We hardly looked like impregnable in the left side of defense earlier in the season when Kolarov was playing.

Could have timed our clash better....SAFC won their last 2 home games, and they lost their last away game 1-0 to an og with 9 men. They are fighting at last.

Should still beat them

They have won our last two visits. Both down to the officials. Play it fair and well bury them.

Last 3 actually. All 1-0.

Injury time penalty conceded by Richards (even though Bent was offside).

Injury time winner scored from offside position by the Korean lad.

Joe let in a speculative effort from Johnson.

To be fair we look less vulnerable than when Clichy is playing at the moment and Kolarov and Nasri have what appears to be an excellent understanding when attacking.

Hmm, I'm a bit confused by your consistency statement. Keep Nastasic in and give Richards a run out at right back. Clichy has been hit and miss rather than woeful but Kolarov is due a game, I'm in two minds regarding the goalkeeper. Maybe give Pants another run out?

Agree.

For me, Nastasic has been poor this season and Lescott deals with aerial threats better. And rather than swap him AND RB slot, we keep Zabba at right back to maintain some consistency for Demichelis. That does make sense.

It appears Nastasic may be injured anyway.

Anyone who thinks that Kolarov hasn't been better than Clichy at left back this season is deluded.

Revised 11:

Hart
Zabaleta Demichelis Lescott Kolarov
Milner Yaya Fernandinho Nasri
Aguero Negredo

Sunderland had a good win over Southampton in the Capital One Cup in midweek but I don't see Manchester City making a mess of another away game. They have got enough players in good form to see them through at the Stadium of Light.

While Vincent Kompany remains sidelined, City's centre-back pairing of Martin Demechelis and Nastasic does not inspire much confidence but the Black Cats do not have enough attacking power to hurt them.

I just think City have grown up a bit in the last few weeks. They have dealt with Joe Hart's loss of form and qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time.

Now they can concentrate on the Premier League and City boss Manuel Pellegrini will be asking his players to show him why they should be top of the table.

City have struggled on their travels so far but there can be no more excuses from their players or their manager.

Lawro's prediction: 0-2

Schneider's prediction: 0-3

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24792966

"•There has not been a goalless draw between these clubs in the league since 1938."

"Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo have between them scored 15 goals in City's last eight games - that's as many Sunderland's entire squad has scored all season."

"•Manchester City have scored more goals (28) than Sunderland (24) have had shots on target this season."

In Typical City fashion the prospect of a 0-0 worries me...

O no if we are starting with Lescott and Milner I feel we may be in trouble.

Beast gotta get payback on O'Shea.

Has to be this after the awful silva new!!!!!!

You almost sense the fates are conspiring with Silva and VK out, Fernandinho and Nastasic facing late fitness tests, and then...

SUNDERLAND have been handed a major injury boost with both Emanuele Giaccherini and Ondrej Celustka expected to be fit for Sunday’s clash with Manchester City.

Big few games for Navas this, real chance to find his footing in the Premier League

Call me a hopeless optimist, but if we play anything like we have been playing we will win, we won away at West Ham, and played well at Chelsea but we need to concentrate especially the defence, this high line has it's benefits but is pretty unforgiving of even small mistakes

I said the same before Villa away fella.. we played a blinder but nowt went our way..Fingers crossed for sunday.

Jeez for a moment there I was checking whether I was dreaming. The pitch looked like Maine road in the 70's but there was Negredo lying flat on his face in the pile of mud.

Not happy Silva is injured but I didn't think he would play on Sunday either way, what worries me is no Fernandinho and the possibility of Garcia in defence instead of Nastasic, lets hope Manuel goes with Lescott!!

With all these injuries I hope Manuel doesn't add to any possible reduction in a winning team mentality we have had recently by playing all the players who haven't had much game time.

-------------------Pantillimon-----------------
Zabaleta-Demichelis-Lescott-Kolarov
---------------Milner-------Yaya--------------
Navas---------------Sergio------------Nasri
----------------------Negredo------------------

I know Richards needs a game, but with Nastasic out we can't change both fullbacks as well, it would lead to too much uncertainty in the team.
