Support band you saw that blew away the headliner

Yeah, both. IIRC they were around about the same time, only a few months apart. Mondays (at the Ritz?) were very good, but I was also very drunk that night. The Stone Roses were being hyped to all hell before that gig at the International on Plymouth Grove. I thought they were shite.
I saw the Roses twice at the International before they broke through and was underwhelmed both times.

Best support ever for me was Kraftwerk at GMEX supporting U2 ( plus Public Enemy who weren’t for me)

Did anyone ever come across a band called Black wolf? Bristol based band ,I saw them supporting The Answer in Southampton a few years ago. All the crowd were queuing to get hold of their promotion cd, they were good.Sadly they have gone their own ways nowadays (ones a weight lifter!) but good while they lasted.

Saw Garbage supporting Blondie when Blondie made a comeback with Pollinator. Shirley Manson can put most female leads to shame, but the age gap was not kind to Debbie. Clem Burke was the highlight, although some of the old. Blondie tunes still had it.

Garbage has a big enough quality discography that they did an hour of hits that really energized the crowd, many of whom (like me) were grey haired holdovers from Blondie’s early days!

Support band..I was really drunk when the support band was announced on,big stage with the Moutains behind giving a brilliant backdrop....and this little man walks up to the Mic..I thought to myself
" what's he gonna do ? "
Boom.Enter The Voice ,Manic Street Preachers blew me away the noise just fitted the setting superbly, they were absolutely brilliant.
Don't remember much about Oasis ,but the Manics .....Fantastic.
Black Grape were also secret support band and I remember them going down well. Great Trip,Blues everywhere, was like a Maine rd home game tbh. Top notch.

Brand New Heavies with N'Dea Davenport, took my girlfriend of the time to see Simply Red ( &ucking awful) The Heavies were the support and they were magnificent and N'Dea blew the place apart, incredible performance from here and the band.

Yeah saw them all back in the day, just once or twice, not really my scene ,but got dragged along with drunken Blues, I had no choice.
LL was the best part of Scotland I'd ever seen, and I've not seen much
The oasis thing was mad really ,deep down I didn't like them much
But our crowd were mad for it ,lol got photos somewhere
It was manic : ) not my music, but I had to be there, with Blues!
Brilliant trip.

Always say Slade and Whitesnake at Donington when AC/DC were thedliners.
Definitely....

Noddy "My fucking bullet belt is getting rusty in the rain"

David & the snake were on the top of their game then.

AC/DC were at best disjointed with a new front man bedding in and Angus fiddling around for what seemed forever. I didn't stay to the end, it'd been a long wet day.

Am sure I saw The Police supporting Albertos Y Lost Trios Paranoias at the Free Trade Hall. Couldn't be as good as the 'Berts was though. ;-)
I don't give a damn I don't fucking care
I'm gonna kill me mum and then pull out me hair
I'm fed up with the dole and the human race
Gonna cut me liver out and shove it in your face

They don't write them like that any more!
