I saw Aztec Camera in 1983 supporting Elvis Costello. Now Costello was very good, nothing wrong with his performance.
But Roddy Frame was the one everyone was talking about on the way out. He was like 19 or something at the time.

Always remember the NME Awards tour and Arctic Monkeys were on before Maximo Park. Place just emptied out after the Monkeys played.

Remember when I was younger and into NME buzz bands and and sometimes went to see recommended gigs without knowing much about them. Only I bought tickets for The Thrills and realised If meant to buy tickets for The Kills at the time. Went anyway and The Zutons were the support. Went to see them at Night and Day after that and they had an alright career

Saw the Psychedelic Furs supporting Iggy Pop. They were great, he was pretty gash

Suicide supporting Iggy and the Stooges at the Hammersmith Apollo a decade or so ago, Iggy and the Stooges were good but Suicide were incredible.

I can’t recall to be fair , however I’ve got Sam Fender tickets for next year and the support act is ‘War On Drugs’ - which was reviewed on the Album thread and sounded superb.

Stereo MCs supporting the Happy Mondays at the Free Trade Hall (93,94?). The Stereos were so good (had just released Connected, I think) that the Mondays were like a caricature of themselves. We ended up leaving halfway through the Mondays’ performance

As said previously van halen supporting black sabbath was just a joy to watch (Manchester Apollo) but the one I remember the most was mott the hoople tour in the early 70s with a little known band they were called Queen I often wonder what happened to them
