Sven as our manager.

Reignited my passion for watching City as it had hit an all time low after Pearce, League One was more fun than that shit - and I was at Stoke when we won 5-2 and still went down.

I know it went tit's up in the end but I lay that blame more at the owners door then Svens.

top manager, signed a lot of unknown players and youth talent, as said b4 doesnt really have a plan b in his lokcer but for championship, lower premierleague and mid table hes a very good manager... jus lacking that certain something stopping him being top 4...

-- Mon Aug 01, 2011 10:41 pm --

I've noticed the lack of a plan B. But given a pre-season I think he's worked one out.

What are your views on Gelson Fernandes?

Joe

Under Sven he was all right, he showed some promise with his energy and drive in the midfield, worked hard, wasn't always brilliant but he did make a bit of an impact in games. But when Hughes took charge, his performances dipped and, that drive and enthusiasm he had under Sven just turned into him running around like a headless chicken, with not really a great deal of purpose, for a defensive midfielder he was not strong enough and didn't win enough balls and break up the play enough. He had a lack of positional sense. If Sven had stayed, maybe he would have fared better and developed more. He had to go in the end, he wasn't going to have a future here.

I think he'd do reasonably well in the Championship, and even OK for a lower Premiership club who's aim is to stay up, so if you do get him I think you have a good signing. I think Sven might well get the best out of him.

Gelson'll do all right for you. Towards the end of his time with us, he'd actually started to reign in his erratic 'be everywhere' style or 'headless chicken' as some would say. Scored a couple of goals as well.

Just going back to the Sven thing, in my opinion, the only mistake he made(apart from the lack of ideas from the main) was revealing that Elano made everything happen for us, on TV.

I remember being gob smacked hearing him say it. Looking back now, I suppose he was trying to make a sarcastic joke, but a Swedish comedian I've not yet ever seen!

So... teams doubled on Elano and that was that for our season!!

With the time he had and the team that he had inherited, i thought he did well. Nobody knows 100 % how bad things were with Shinawatra's meddling, and like a previous poster said, you can hardly say "do one" to the owner. I would be suprised if Leicester didnt get promoted this season.
