Sven or Leslie

I seriously doubt we would be champions now if we had stuck with either/both. With Hughes - who had almost unlimited resources - taking us to the next level was taking too long to happen. Of course he gets a merciless hammering now that we are champions under a new leader and his worst mistakes are exposed. But even at the time the jury was out (at best) and that simply wasn't good enough.

I think the drop in form with Sven, ending with the 8-1 away loss, had a lot to do with the scheming going on behind the scenes by toxin. Different class from Hughes.

To me that was the players way of telling the Board they were not happy with what was going on and the prospect of losing Sven.

Ultimately, that result meant nothing (no European place at risk, no threat of relegation) and quite frankly I agree whole heartedly (if thats what it was) with what they done.

I will never forget being at Anfield when we sang support for Sven (Brick in the wall), it was amazing. If I recollect correctly Thaksin was happy we were singing his name until someone told what we were singing.

I dont ever recall any such chant/appreciation for the clueless one.

Even better than Sven's chant was when we went to Fulham and gave the Mancini shout the effort, saw television picyures after the game and Hiughes was desperate for the ground to open up and swallow him up.

I think these two measures give the accurate reflection of the City fans attitude to both!!

Have to say, I have wonderful memories during that 1st half of the Season. Have to say I am not a
particularly good card player, I would have stuck and settled for Sven and that team with a bit of tweaking, particularly after some of the sh*t* for the previous 30 years at least.

After Sven, Fantasy Football took over, certainly no complaints now obviously, but under Sven we were fucking good at times, and still typically City.

Lets just say it felt good when we Fucked up SKY'S Super Sunday by being in the Top Four at XMAS.

I was with two Liverpool Supporter mates that day, and remember telling them, they were about to be usurped as one of the "Sky Four". At the time just piss taking banter.

Turned out to be quite prophetic. i always wonder if that was the day, someone made a decision on a hunch. possibly the day when the Premiership changed

Sven all day every day. Should have never been replaced by the **** Mark Hughes.

Agreed, but in another sense, Hughes was perfect for what LOOKED LIKE the nature of the task when he was appointed. Steady the ship and 'do a Blackburn' by getting us top 6 on minimal funds.

As soon as the nature of the task changed to chase top four qualification and ultimately the title, sign big name players for functionally unlimited money etc, he was out of his depth. Sven would have been better for that task while still far from ideal.

Of course, Sven should never have been sacked by Thaksin but that's a different matter.

Sven, Hughes was clueless tactically and signed some expensive dross that we cant get rid of now.

EDIT, although that photoshop Hughes thread was fantastic.

We don't need no Phil Scolari,
We dont need no Mourinho.....
Hey Thaksin! Leave our Sven alone,

Had a sore voice after singing this for the whole second half away at Anfield.

Knew before the Sunderland game Hughes was getting sacked and don't remember being too bothered really
