Sven?

Any manager worth there salt would believe they were capable of getting us top 4 comfortably, and im sure it is a questioned posed to any future (current) manager. Saying it and doing it are two completely different things though.

I must point out that when he said we'd be comfortably in the top4,he never said in which division.

Don't mind talking about Sven, I like him. He's been getting unbelievable stick form the English media but has always held his head high and continues to do so. Sure, the man likes money and women but who the f?!* doesn't?? :)

Since Sweden f*cked up in qualifying I'll probably have Ivory Coast as one of my main teams, mainly because of Sven and Kolo. I'll want Argentina to do well too, would be another amazing chapter in the story of Maradona - as long as he lets Tevez start!! :)

Anyway, if Sven doesn't continue with Ivory Coast after the WC I wouldn't mind him coming back in some function. Obviously not as a manager - we have that one covered, but him and Mancini really seem to get on and I think it would benefit us to have him around, maybe something like the gig he had at Notts.

I was talking about his time in charge of England, not at what he did at club level.

He had the highest win percentage since Ramsey.

Well, I expect England to beat the likes of Liechenstein, Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Wales, etc, not to mention the amount of friendlies England played in that time, far more than in the past. He never delivered when it ultimately mattered.

Top manager and its hard not to wonder what might had been had Sven been in charge when the sheik bought the club. His record when backed with substantial transfer funds cant be questioned.

In saying that he's made some daft decisions recently. If he cared for anything other than the money then he would have taken the vacant swedish job instead of pimping himself about to the highest bidder.

FUCKING DICK!
Who are you telling to leave it in the past knobhead. He was asked the question on a current radio station,he gave his opinion yesterday. If you don't like anything in the past then this board would be pretty fucking empty. All we'd have is matchday threads. You say you don't wish to lower the tone then call me a fucking dick.If theres a thread you don't like, don't read it,TWAT.

I dont mind things from the past. Does it not slightly irritate you though these constant forums of Hughes, Sven and Mancini and even bloody Mourinho.
And the comment in bold ... understand sarcasm

I do apologise for my comments i didnt realise you would take it so personal

Our second half of the season fell apart due to squad depth. Just like many teams who push hard early on then fall away (ie, Villa last season, Birmingham this season). With a squad like now, the loss to 'boro etc. never would have happened like that. Sven did a good job with what he had, a pretty mediocre squad.

getting rid of Sven was pathetic, would of been interesting to see what he would of done with the funds given to him and the right amount of time.

imo Sven would of done a more far superior job than Hughes did.

Put it this way, we would of been playing in the Europa League this season instead of Fulham.

Plus it didn't help when Frank talked about "tightening a few bolts"from America.I think the squad and Sven knew from then that the writing was on the wall.

i liked sven, had a very poor second half to the season, but given time i think we would have been very promising

I think the players knew he was going at the end of the season from a relatively early stage and their respect and admiration for him was reflected in the latter performances.

Nonetheless he did still put us into the UEFA cup more than did his successor.

Also did people expect Sven and his team to keep up the pace of the first half of the season?

Frightening if they did.

-- Sat Apr 03, 2010 12:04 am --

Also did people expect Sven and his team to keep up the pace of the first half of the season?

We were 45 minutes away from relegating Fulham... Mind you our defence that day was decimated.

Elano - Corluka - Sun Jihai - Ball

if i remember correctly?

Then a midfielder of Vassell - Johnson - Ireland - Fernandes - Petrov

With Benjani upfront.

And people still think Sven was shit for not keeping us in the top 6......

Yeah that was it, no real wonder we didn't hold out.

I love Sven - but then I am pissed - hahahaha.

He's such a character - sleazy as fuck - he'll be banging away on the Ivory's before you can say 'Jack Flash'.
