Watched a couple of their games since the draw was made and they are a well balanced side who I expect to be promoted automatically. Fit, athletic, play decent enough football and don’t concede many. A particular feature of their recent games seems to be accurate long range shooting and goals from their midfielders Matt Grimes and Connor Hourihane, who has been a very successful January signing from Villa.
Graham Potter played a big part in restoring some of that Swansea short passing identity which appeared to have been somewhat lost in recent years and it was considered a blow when he left them for Brighton, but if anything, their new boss Steve Cooper has made them an even more effective outfit.
He was, of course, England U17 manager when he won the World Cup with Phil as player of the tournament and Joel Latibeaudiere as skipper. The latter is now with the Swans. Also coached Raheem when he was Liverpool’s academy coach.
Can’t afford to take them lightly but the incentive of breaking the all time record along with cup progression should be sufficient motivation not to take our eye off the ball.
