Swansea City (A) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

He's too predictable at the moment, and appears unable to vary his play .... it's clear to see why he got a bit of criticism from the Norwegian national team boss the other week.

I don't think Bobb has got over the very bad injury (leg break). Sometimes players are never the same after a bad leg break, with the fear of doing it again, they sort of don't want to put in a challenge or risk a 50/50 tackle, they are never 100% right because of a mental block

Another game that makes me feel like Pep and City are cooking something, but haven't got the flavour worked out yet.

Enough to like. Cherki an obvious huge positive, and the sort of player I think I could fall in love with and have been missing in some games this season.

Similarly enjoy watching Nico G play.
See, this is where I’m the complete opposite on Cherki. You can see what he’s trying to do but isn’t quite making it. Time after time he gave the ball away with elaborate passes and only saved his game with one of the last kicks of the game.

I have no doubt that he’ll be quality, but he’s shown nothing yet that says to me that he’s a huge positive.

Another player, like Bobb, who’s become even better during absence. Are we that desperate, we’ve turned into United fans (Pogba).

Opinions, eh ;-)

Cherki head and shoulders above the others on tonight's showing. Gonzalez also decent I thought, and Ake & Doku were competent enough. A positive result that we needed and a home QF draw made it a good night.

James Traffords save at 1-0 a big moment really and thought he did well.

Minuses - I thought Khusanov looked a mile off it; Ait-Nouri was absolutely tripe, the kid Mukasa just had no impact on the game and Oscar Bobb continues to flatter to deceive and trade off one goal nearly 2 years ago as the only evidence he belongs at our level.

Hats off to the Blues that travelled.

Pep will have much to chew over there but surely he now knows O'Reilly should be the left back, Gonzalez has to play every game until Rodri is back, and Oscar Bobb alongside Savinho belong nowhere near the pitch at present.

Very true ...... I fractured my ankle 24 years ago,, and im still wary of putting too much weight on it even today!

Cherki good, everything else bad.

Marmoush, Doku, are the most dangerous type of poor players.

They aren’t always poor, once in a while they do something good, which hoodwinks some, buys them time and splits opinion.

It would be easier if they were just crap every game, then the decision is made.

Such a mediocre squad now.

Dear me! Have you not been watching City for long? I think Marmoush had a goal pretty much every other game before he was injured.

We weren't good EB, but we won in the end, there were some good performances from Cherki, and Nico, Trafford when called on, John settled the defence, Gvardiol and Foden helped too, but there were some poor performances as well. We could easily have gone 2-0 down. I'd rather say it as it is, than sugar coat it.
I hear what you are saying @cleavers but I do sometimes think we really expect perfection and it doesn’t always happen. Actually of course if we had perfection we’d have nothing to fight for and get complacent.

I guess I’m too soft really and feel for the lads. And the fans of course. By heck we do have the best fans in the World especially at away games. They never stop, they shout and sing their hearts out. (Then can’t remember where they parked their car afterwards as happened to a friend tonight and I’ve done it a couple of times at away games!) :-) :-)
Sorry Cleavers I didn't watch the game so I shouldn’t have said anything. Glad that John Boy wasn’t a wasted vote in MOTM from me though. ;-)

Think the state of the pitch, obviously an expected tactic by Swansea inhibited him somewhat.
On our bowling green he will shine, Nico G is getting better !

You didn't miss a whole lot really, and no need to apologise.

I'll always say it as I see it, the good performances, and the bad, and I don't think I named the bad ones tonight, but there were a few.

I think people forget we played a team 14th in the championship, yes they put up a spirited effort, as I would expect, they also scored a wonder goal, so fair play for that, but we laboured for long periods for me.
