Swansea City to subsidise away ticket prices

Expect some dodgy clubs to suddenly hike their price for Swansea at home to £750 adult and £700 kids for the away fans.

The fans pay the capped amount and the club has to foot the rest.

Just to remind people - this is not something Swansea are just doing out of the kindness of their hearts. This is what they are choosing to do in the 2015-16 season with their league-mandated 300k to spend on reducing the cost of away games. Every club gets the same sum and every club has to spend it all on reducing supporter costs in a manner of their choosing. Swansea are not being somehow kinder to their fans that the other 19 clubs, they are just the first team to go public with their plans.

Nice one Swansea, however i always wonder why they only look at away games and don't do more for fans at home games. Not every fan can do away games like myself who with our supporters club travel to every home game from Cumbria to City which is a overall 6hr return journey and is like a away game every match. I think its about time clubs put this money back into the fans pockets across the boards by subsidising home and away fixtures.

As said above, the PL gives every team a set budget to spend on reducing the cost of away tickets. They don't give anything for reducing the cost of home tickets, so that's why you only hear about away trip benefits.

The £200K (not £300K?) wont cover it, if they average 2000 away fans, and the average price is £45 a ticket it will cost them £874K, which isnt a lot in Premier League terms but is far more than any other club is doing!

It's not really solving the fundamental issue. The prices are too high, especially for away supporters. Subsidising sounds like a nice gesture, but fixes nothing.
Away support is crucial and should be encouraged by the FA with proper systems to make it more accessible.

Agreed, subsidy is just masking the problems

Whilst the FSA have gone for Twenty is Plenty, a more reasonable sum in today's climate is a ceiling of £30 for all away tickets, making it comparable to season ticket prices.
