Swansea pre-match thread

Once again we face a club that has sacked it's manager, how many times has this happened in recent years. If we play anything like we should win this, if we don't we'll struggle.

Surely Kompany must be somewhere near a return?
I heard January mentioned. But even more importantly how long will he stay fit when he comes back. 3-5-7 games?

I miss the training reports on the forum that were as informative as one could hope for regarding the likelihood of who was in contention and who was likely to be missing.

Goal is only quoting MP who I wouldn't rely on up until he gives his presser.

Its unlikely we will have any of our injured players available this Saturday so hopefully all came through ok on Tuesday.

I suspect we won't see VK or Kompany before the new year.

Hopefully Kun will get some game time against Arsenal.

In terms of recovery periods I tend to add a few games to his hopeful returns and well see type comments and on average its not far off the mark.

I think if we in a cup final or had to play for the title Kun would be given an injection and he would play for sometime at least or through the pain barrier.

The problem is he usually takes a few games to hit his stride and that's always one game closer to his next injury.

A number of players in our squad are injury prone and have been for sometime so we need some of the academy to come through a play a role.

Our season will rest on how MP manages the shortfall but Sagna said it best when he said there is no excuse for being asked to play more games than one otherwise would.

If Zabba and Clichy were fit and at their best he would only get some restricted game time so he has the attitude at least off the park when he says let me play in every game.

If Bony , Sterling , Silva and Kev are up for it we should be able to outscore Swansea but I would hope for a clean sheet for once this Saturday.
Are VK and Kompany different people then?

On what evidence to you base this point of view?

Would have thought on the looks side at the ladies would disagree but what do I know.

As for balance of the side and Saturday's line up I wouldn't be too concerned if Kev was rested.

I am more concerned with how we link up between our back four and defensive midfield that lack of which has been the main reason we give away so many soft goals since early September.

The irony is that some fans were moaning that Pellegrini was giving details of our players availability away to the opponents when the reality is we know very little about Kompany and Aguero's real state of fitness. Fully expecting Pellegrini to tell us tomorrow that we will see about Kompany and Aguero next week

I think MP doesn't know any more than the medical advice he receives and we shouldn't expect him to no more either.

These injuries are fluid but I have no qualms if MP says in the press than so and so is unavailable for the next game or two etc.

What we cannot rely upon is for our manager to know how long any of our players will actually be out for and I have taken the view that when the team is announced then we know one way or another.

Personally I don't think we will see VK this year and I am hopeful Kun will get some game time against Arsenal but who knows.

Its almost nailed on even when they return they will suffer more injuries throughout the campaign and over time you have to balance that with bringing in players who are less injury prone.

Clearly for the likes of VK and Kun they don't know how to manage their bodies nearly as well as others or are just not built to last the rigours of the premiership for any significant length of time before their suspect tendons and or muscles give out again.

Giggs being linked with the Swansea job now. Be a shame if he got it, as I was hoping he'd succeed van Gaal.

Should be a good game, looking for a good win for this one, think we'll score 4

With the way our form's been up and down for the past six weeks, I'd be a bit more cautious if I were you, mate. I'll settle for the three points, however they come. One scrambled goal in the last minute would do me. We've just got to stay in the mix until everyone major is back. Then the beautiful football and the goals will flow, I have no doubt of it.

I'm trying to put my confident head on :-) wish I was going but no funds before Xmas

This is a bit off thread, but anyone know what the story is on Zabman's return? How far off is he? Sagna's done such a good job, that it may in fact be difficult for Zab to fight his way back in.

Think he's due back for the Arsenal game, barring any further setbacks. Could do with having him back so we can rotate fullbacks over Christmas. Sagna must be knackered.

I would play with Delph ahead of Navas but other than that I think Swansea while a good possession team will be dangerous on the break.

If we snuff out their midfield we are well on the way to dominating possession in dangerous positions.

Until it gets to Gomis ;-)

Last season when we faced Swansea ,we went on a winning run up to Burnley at home .
This is the game we need to go on a winning run .
