Swansea (QF) Post Match thread

Ha. Honestly, I was never worried.

That was a huge, huge result for this team and some of the players in it.

Some of our fans are so, so simple minded though.

Slating Sane's performance is just madness. He literally had Delph planted 10 yards behind him stationary, which allowed Swansea to park two players in front of him.Laporte also looked a mess until he left the field...no coincidence there. It was a shocking, shocking showing from Delph and Zinchenko literally put him to shame and did to him tonight what Kelechi did to Bony. We won't see Delph again this season methinks.

I thought Gundogan did his usual Samir Nasri impression of doing the bare minimum until the game turned, he really is a player who looks good when we're playing good and invisible otherwise.

What a performance from Bernardo and the subs, fantastic.

Fair play to Bersant Celina. I felt he was offloaded too soon and unfairly at the time and his comments and attitude we great. He said he wanted to show us what we missed out on and fair play to him for getting such a good finish. He's going to be some player.

Their manager is also an absolute class act, those comments after the game were great and he stopped BT from saying it wasn't a penalty.
I’m afraid you’re right about Delph. You could see how frustrated Laporte was getting in the first half. Delph leaves so much space that his fellow defenders have to constantly cover for him. He also doesn’t seem to have an6 kind of rapport with Sane. Zinchenko and Sane have an almost telepathic understanding.

I like Delph, he’s an honest, hard working pro who can be brilliant. Unfortunately he does seem have more than his fare share of f..k ups in him.

We need to get Mendy back to rotate with Zinny.

Best thing we did tonight was getting Delph off the pitch, Zinchenko gave us pace & accuracy.
Sane definately struggles when he plays alongside Gabby & Mahrez who was wank.
No suprise when we brought Sterling on then Aguero & fucked Mahrez off Walker uped his game funny in it.

Zinchenko looks the part & fair play I gave him some stick last year but with game time he has grown into a good young footballer.

So we got some look today but how did we not finish half of those chances today.

Good draw now Millwall or Brighton.

That's the deceptive thing about Delph, he's actually rather two-footed. The problem is, so too are his challenges. :-(
In all seriousness, I think the last gasp slide tackle is a Delph trademark that he used to good effect last season. Unfortunately, if he's a tiny bit off the pace through injury or lack of match fitness, it makes him just that split second slower, and great tackles become late tackles and a decent player becomes a liability.

I’ve not seen their manager’s comments, what did he say?

He was very gracious and didnt moan about any decisions despite Hartson goading him to say something controversial , Potter is a top man and got the best out of his team , hope the Swansea owners give him the time he needs to get Swansea back in the Premier league , his team were a credit to him today

Few concerns will be there for Pep which he and the support staff will no don't work over during the international break

But the way we won in the end , will keep the players buzzing

Amazing comeback .Thank heavens for Bernardo and Kun.
Seriously what we have we learnt.
Delph is crap (I know we already knew that) and the ceiling of his ability is in a mid table Championship side. Repeated failures should mean he has no place in this Team.
Walker is not good enough full stop. How long can we keep blaming the World Cup for his brain farts.
Gundogan has as much spine as Nasri had. A skilful player but no use if presented with physical opposition.
Gabby really worrying now at how little he offers. He has not moved forward since he arrived and is no way a replacement for Serg (but then who is).
Mahrez .I was delighted when he signed but he really is poor and maybe is just half of a successful Vardy/Mahrez double that worked well in a period of Leicesters style but offers little now as an individual.
Other than that great onwards and upwards.

Never seen such outrage from BT about contentious decisions in a Manchester City game, I wonder what the difference tonight was?

Having said that, they weren't wrong that VAR would have overturned the decisions... it doesn't however mean the game would have definitely finished 2-1 either though, the equalizer was coming before the penalty was given.

I'm not sure if Sterling stumbled off balance or dived/bought it as the Welsh pundit tried to say but it didn't look like he appealed for it, the ref pointed right away. I will give Sterling the benefit of doubt but if it was deliberate he should cut that out, we don't want refs having excuses not to give us the correct decisions, nor should he feed the unjustified reputation he has of being a diver(in a City shirt).

Other than half the team not being good enough for you.

Agreed, but unless ZInchenko picks up an injury or is withdrawn when the game is already dead, it is hard to see Delph play the minutes now that would allow him to build his fitness. The margins are far too slim to accommodate any similar mistakes.

So the lesson is... start the same team in every game?
go on then i'll speak in block capitals.

you pick the best 11 fit players available to you. when and only when the game is safe do you put on the second string players. it gives the first team players a rest yet the game is safe.

I don’t think Delph will play another game for City. He’ll be gone in the summer and won’t be risked in the run in now.

He is shite. Really shite.

Walker needs to buck his fucking ideas up as well.
