The season should run from the start of September to the end of April....then FIFA can piss about with qualifiers & friendlies after the important stuff has finished.

Too much money involved to do that.
I would amalgamate tha qualifying for both comps anyway. So if a European team qualify for the W.c they qualify for the Euros.
That'll never happen either.

If i had to choose my squad today i'd go with -

GK - Hart, Ruddy, McCarthy
DF - Walker, Simpson, Jagielka, Cahill, Caulker, Cole, Baines
MF - Lennon, Jarvis, Carrick, Cleverley, Barry, Huddlestone, Wilshere, Young, Routledge
FW - Rooney, Defoe, Carroll, Crouch

Starting 11 -

Hart
Walker-Jagielka-Cahill-Cole
Carrick-Cleverley
Lennon-Rooney-Young
Defoe

I can understand some of those choices, but you can't ignore Gerrard. Also I think Walcott and the Ox should be included. I'd remove Huddlestone (can't quite believe you've included him to be honest, never impressed me), Jarvis and Routledge (seriously?!!) and include Gerrard, Walcott and the Ox. Lampard has been injured so, for me, he misses out.

Defensively the fullbacks look about right, given Richards and Johnson are either injured or only just returning from injury. There are only 3 centre halves picked there though, and one of them is Caulker who I'm not convinced is England quality just yet. Shawcross would get in my squad, and Lescott, despite him not playing quite as regularly. I'd remove Caulker and Simpson (go with just Walker as a right back) and bring in Lescott and Shawcross.

In goal I think it's a little early for McCarthy, although he has looked impressive. Butland is a possibility but I'd bring in the guy from Celtic again, Fraser Forster. Scottish football might not be too impressive, but he's played in some "big games", like in the Nou Camp, so is experienced.

Can't argue with the forwards, it astounds me that Crouch can't get a callup yet Carroll can, despite Carroll struggling for goals and Crouch always having a decent scoring record.

McCarthy or Forster as 3rd choice is fine with me. I'd agree with you on the Gerrard point, probably in for Huddlestone.
But on the point on Walcott, Ox and Lescott, they just aren't playing enough regular football for their club sides to be considered, for me. I personally like the England side to be starting regularly for their club sides (in sides that are doing well in the league). Instead of Lescott, i'd go with either Taylor at Newcastle or Shawcross.
As regards to Jarvis and Routledge, they would be as back up to Lennon and Young and would be fresh faces to test on the international stage.

ps after tonights performance, I think i'd also take Billy Jones as back-up to Walker instead on Danny Simpson.

It's been a long time since we've had a City free squad (Hart being in goal dosen't count).

Has Wroy lost the plot even more or have we an agreement with the FA? Milner and Barry are regulars even if others are injured in our squad.

Fine by me, hope Wroy gives Hart the night off, it's a friendly after all, give us a full week to get injured players fit instead of them having to go off to England to be sent back.

A few Liverpool reserves and youth players entitled to be very pissed off they haven't been given their deserved call up.

After all, they meet all of Woy's criteria for selection.
