You know that way that tracks used to drift in and out of the airwaves on Radio Luxemburg? You'd be listening to them with your ear glued to your Sony, maybe through the pillow, as you drifted off to sleep (in time with the drifting of the airwaves). It didn't seem to matter to me, it almost made them more magical.
Not sure if it's soul or not, and don't really care, but Mary Wells’ “My Guy” lit up my 1964 summer nights like that.
