Sweet Soul Music (Do you like good music)

She was infinitely better singer than Diana Ross, as was Florence Ballard.

Ross had the looks, and she was perfectly marketable at that time. I don't think she can be considered a great soul singer.
That said, that summer of “Where Did Our Love Go” has very particular associations with a certain girl for me. And it'll always mean something special because of it. She was crazy about that song.

By the way, I am an inveterate reader, as well as listener. For some time — three or four years, now — the Stuart Cosgrove trilogy has been on my shelves. I came across them and bought them on the spot, because they looked exceedingly interesting. The three tomes are, respectively: Detroit 67 — The Year That Changed Soul; Memphis 68 — The Tragedy of Southern Soul; and finally Harlem 69 — The Future of Soul.
They've received all kinds of praise. Anybody read them, by any chance?
