Sweet Soul Music (Do you like good music)

It was 1970. I was sixteen, so I was definitely young. I had been let out into the big, wide world after ten years of confinement which had often felt like a prison sentence (boarding school). I wasn't particularly gifted. I certainly wasn't black.
You see where I'm going? That sound, in the summer of my sixteenth year, was the sound of the world and all its possibilities. For all of us.
Now? Now I'm haunted by my youth…
I know that feeling mate

Claim to fame...

I saw the Isley Brothers 20-odd years ago and met with them after the show (fanboy)...

Chatting with Ronald Isley, I mentioned that 'Tell me it's just a rumour baby' was one of my favourite songs ever. He said he loved the song but it wasn't in their playlist any more.... He took the chance to do it live on the spot, with me accompanying him, in the car park at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon. The whole song!
It was one of the most fantastic moments of my life (and hopefully his..).

Ernie Isley just stood there wondering what the hell was going on! Absolute legends.

Guess what happened when I came face to face with Al Green (totally unexpectedly) at the same venue... I literally couldn't speak, and he just stood there laughing and shaking my hand as I struggled to make words come out!
