You don't even have to be the reckless type. A few unlucky investments and it can happen to anyone. A lot of players no doubt try to take the money from their short career and use it to set themselves up for life. Some of them are always going to get it wrong, which is why they go bankrupt at a rate far higher than the average person. No doubt the average PL football gets a lot of 'business opportunities' across their desk, and they're often rich enough that they feel like they can afford the risk, when in reality, a few traditional investments would set them up for life.

Plus some are arrogant and thick as pig shit it has to be said.
 
The problem with a lot of footballers is they get molly coddled everthing done for them by their clubs .
When he lived in Cheadle Hulme & sold his house the person who bought it turned up after signing for it & shauny boy was still in the house with all his belongings, wasnt aware he should of moved out .

Ahhh the claiming bankrupt when you are not scam?

If only I had the cash to even dream that shit up mate. All I know is that I collect money and I hoard it because when I was young my family had nothing.

That and I am no mug :)
 
He was with Joleon Lescott on the pitch before the CWC game on Monday Morning. He managed to get to America if he doesn't already live over there. Seemed in good spirits for someone with money worries.

Yeah, he didn’t mention anything to me about it last Tuesday in Philadelphia, he just asked about the covered bridges…..
