there is no way SWP and sturridge can be compared..

there was times when sturridge shown a few glimpses of what SWP did for us before he went there, but he wasnt consistant.

yes SWP left us for them, but he was on the up, improving all the time, got into the england squad and needed to better himself. At the time he couldnt do that with us.

on the other hand sturridge wanted money for doing hardly anything, he had a few games where he made an impact (Stoke home, Schalke, Blackburn away) but there was more games when he was useless all but the above really.

the only difference between the two of them when they left for Chelsea is that Studge hadnt been given a chance to prove himself, SWP had.

Not a slating but Sturridge had 16 premiership appearance, 4 goals. Had he been the star he seems to think he is, there were 16 chances to show what he could do. It didn't happen because he is not the player he or his advisors think he is. He is a good player, no doubt, but not the megastar to make the demands he placed on City.

I forecast that this is another Francis Jeffers in the making. He will be desperate to play and be in the starting eleven - this won't happen at Chelsea. He will play the bit part, handsomely paid for it, but still the bit part and in a season or two will be in exactly the position he's in now - he will be looking for a patch of grass which he thinks is slightly greener and a team that would accommodate his 'staggeringly gifted talents'.

The choice of Sturridge going to Chelsea is staggering IMO.

He didn't even know who the manager was going to be.

I could understand him going to Villa if MON had promised him starting appearances.

But to go from 5th choice down to 8th choice in a large squad is not going to develop him. Ancelotti will probably get the push by Christmas once the connosewers down the Bridge get a decent look at how exciting the Cattanaccio (sic) is! I agree entirely colinball. At the time of swp's leaving we were well in the shit and we were desperate for he cash, if memory serves me right. I find Sturridge choosing Chelsea over us disappointing as we are now a club on the up. I cannot believe opportunity's for or development of Sturridge would be greater at Chelsea than at COMS.

Swp was a big fish in a small pond wanting to play european football. He was no traitor, we didn't offer him a new contract and we all knew he'd leave at some point with the way things were going. Sturridge is a ccomplete different story, he hadn't even established himself as a first teamer. Swp was a fudamental part of the city side and sturridge decides to ask for how much?
