i know ill get slated for this... but SWP is not the player he was...

very poor today and hasnt since his return beaten the man... he used to drift past players for fun, but he just doesnt seem able to do that anymore... maybe he is carrying an injury coz he does get kicked to bits but he is certainly not the player he was and i think he is one of many week links at present.

i may be slated for this as everyone loves shaun and i admit he's a star for me just not on currently form...

thoughts?

He's certainly not as consistent as he can be. Showed glimpses of his old self against Newcastle. Got no room at all, on a small pitch, today.
 
SWP always works better with space when running at players. Hughsie should play him more as a winger, he's not as effective in the middle of the park.
 
Well to be fair, he and Zaba were injury concerns pre-match. So yes he did have a knock.

well wasnt he a doubt to play today already? also a couple of weeks ago when he got injured against Forest he was ruled out for several weeks but was playing a week later maybe he is starting to feel the after effects from that?? Also as you say he gets kicked to bits, imagine getting kicked about for 90 minutes a week it must begin to take its toll on you after a while. maybe he needs a match out to recover? let Vladimir Weiss have a run out?

thats my point!! i dont know if weiss is ready yet so not sure he's the answer, but SWP just isnt effective at present!!!

no he is not ready yet! we have perfectly capable players on the bench in sturridge, garrido who could fill in that spot! would of played weiss if we were still in the cups! :(
 
horses for courses..this wasnt the right game for three players like swp/rob/bellamy .swp should of gone off at half time,with richards,zab going RB elano on caciedo on,bellamy wide.
give it time we should know by now you cant stick 3/4 new players in and expect great results straight away.
 
possibly one of his worst performances in a blue shirt. But thereagain if you don`t give the ball to him he ain`t going to do anything with it.
The lack of width against 10 men today was frightening.
