What do you reckon for the Silver Fox? Let him go? Give him another year? Make him a coach?

I reckon he's got one more year in those old legs yet. Decent squad cover. Just not against Spurs...

I can see us signing a young starlet to challenge Bridge in that position after the World Cup. We haven't really got anyone in the Academy that is pushing the left back position.

We have no reason to keep him in any capacity IMHO i'm afraid. A true professional who holds great respect from fellow players and fans across the world. A touch of class when he walked off against Burnley in front of us, and the fans showed the regard we hold him in.

But we have a defensive coach, he doesn't have his fellow Brazilian players around him anymore, and he just doesn't have enough for me even as bit-part player.

I think he should, and probably will want a return to Brazil to finish his career there.

massive experience, winning mentality, used to being in a side challenging for honours and with huge expectation?

the only Brazilian he ever had around him was Robinho anyway, ten years his junior and somebody who he probably only vaguely knew before coming here, not like he's suddenly nothing without his 'best mates'....

I'd say give him another year. Not like he expects to play every week anyway or will kick up a stink if he doesn't.

He was pulled all over the place, by Bolton. I'd rather have Garrido in there as a third choice left back if we do go ahead and buy someone.

If those factors outweighed the arguments against, why didn't Barca keep him on as a coach or in some capacity?

Probably 'cos Barca have less need to instil a winning mentality than us, it's already second nature to almost all of their squad, and they have plenty of other players with experience of winning at the highest level, an abundance of them really.

whereas Sylvinho and Vieira are the two of our players that fit that description best, we don't really have a lot of them, and as a club we're making the transition from being a club that's been mid-table with the occassional relegation fight (at least for a whole generation) to challenging for honours again, and we need people like that on board.

When he is on the bench he still gets really involved in the game, shouting and talking to players helping them along etc, but non of us really know, if there is a coaching job here for him at City, it would be nice if he could stay on in some capacity on the coaching side, maybe still signing on as a player, but only to be used in extreme circumstances, im afraid though, with where we are trying to go a new left back is a must for us imo, someone who is geniunley going to push Bridge all the way, Garrido isn't the answer either im afraid.

IMO it's pipe and slippers time for the old fella

+1

I saw him away to the Spuds and Aaron Lennon skinned him every time he got the ball. I know Lennon's a handful, but it was embarrassing.

I'd be happy to see him stay on in a coaching role.

Cunningham maybe?

I see him in a coaching role and have done ever since he joined
Think their is a chance that Paddy could end up as a coach

It is as sure as night follows day that he will not be at the club next season.

How anyone can doubt that is a mystery to me.

He could do a little job at a newly promoted club for a year, maybe.

agreed
its quite clear mancini isn't too enamoured with either him or garrido
can see some strengthening here during the pre-season

I dont know all the ins and outs of it, but isnt next season the season where all the new rules kick in about squads. Ie 25 man squads only with exception of U21's.

If so, and if we have over our current amount of players who arnt from the UK or UK residence (3 years in the UK) due to the rules, i feel people like Sylvinho may be released in order for us to buy more qaulity. In any other year he probably would stay on for an extension but the new rules may dictate who we keep

There is no "may".

He's surely bottom of the pecking order in our squad.

I'll show my arse in Burton's window if he's offered a new playing contract.

No way he will be playing for us next season,

Coaching role maybe if he hangs his boots up,

Would love it if he decided to stay in some capacity

I would hope we can use him as coach either to first team or in academy... his experience is essential to get hold off... and he has been through a lot of great teams so he could learn out a lot to youngsters...

I like him, give him another year/6 months then make him a coach.

He's still got good feet, he can pass, head and tackle, he can play various positions, he's a leader, he's honest, well, he's just a true proffesional who we should try to model the future of our club on.
