Syria | Assad flees to Moscow as rebels capture Damascus

And why did asaads lot just give up all of a sudden? Doesn't sound like there was much of a battle for Damascus, sounds like the rebels just drove in and asaads lot just legged it, why didn't the rebels try that before? All seems a little strange
I expect Russia told him he was on his own and he decided to abandon ship.

A couple of things that don't really make sense with this, all these prisons being opened and everyone being freed, is there nobody in the prison for doing bad things? All just imprisoned by the bad guy because he didn't like them?

Often goes like this. The fall of the communism was similar. Once the collapse starts, there's no stopping it.

The Birth of ISIS was from a similar event in Iraq. the west put Iraqi army and insurgents in the same prison there were mass breakouts as well as loads being let go when the west left.

Reeks of Afghanistan in the 90s.

US backs islamist fanatics because it wants to stick it to russia, give it 5 years and a taliban style regeim will be competing with turkey at murdering Kurds and destroying history.

Assad being a absolute **** won't mean the next lot are not worse unfortunately

At least a few US bussinesses and mercenaries will cream some profit off it all for a while.

Seriously though none of the main 3 players Russia, The US and Turkey are innocent and shame humanity and democracy when it comes to the middle east.

Israel and Iran are a seperate subject imho as both use Syria and Iraq as neutral zonesor areas of influence to keep each apart and only want to use them to suit their own defence not for oil or profit like the other 3.

So are these Syrian Rebels good Islamic terrorists then or do the terms only get applied when it suits

Has Farage Airways offered to fly Syrian refugees home yet?
I'm expecting him to make political capital out of this anytime soon.

The news media asking Syrian refugees with indecent haste in a celebratory “now you can go home” or when are you all going home”

Farage and his kind should be ashamed of the way racism has been pushed and portrayed in the UK people have fled persecution in Syria and other places and treated to container ship prison when they arrived here.

The US, France, Britain and Russia have made a real dog's dinner of the middle east over the last 120 years as the Ottoman empire collapsed.

Most of the prisoners were political prisoners “bad things against the state” speaking out against a murderous regime thousands tortured and killed, women and even children
Tonight they are trying to get out prisoners kept underground no one has the keys. Some of them will be same as we’ve got locked up in our prisons theft etc.

Political prisons = political prisoners, eg anyone who spoke against Assad.

And it fell once Russia stopped backing them, due to a more local issue they thought would take three days.

Youre applying a lot of basic thinking there. And Western thinking. Its a lot more involved than that. You know that though, shirley. That was a procative post aimed at some of the simpler posters on here

Yep, some of the optimistic reporting of a new era of freedom and even democracy in Syria is likely wide of the mark.
