Tackle watch

Foy us having a mare in the Newcastle game. One thing when we are involved - can be accused if bias - but watching as a neutral I can really see his inadequacy as a referee. Should give it up.

Just booked QPR lad, originally wasn't even going to give a foul, linesman flagged for it. Sound familiar? What a joke of a ref. I think he only.booked Derry for the Cabaye foul due to Newcastle players crowding him.

He's also missing quite a bit, and not in a play the advantage kind of way.

Oh, similar tackle to kompanys just then, Bothroyd on Santon I think... he's giving yellow. What a t**t.
What's wrong with a lino giving a foul the ref misses and advising the ref to book him??

The derry card, foy gets the yellow out immediately so not sure how youve come to that conclusion

None of the fouls today were like the kompany tackle so I don't think any comparisons can be made
Its Foy's actions that are the problem. He seems to rely on others to make decisions. Nothing wrong with him using the linesman, but he should only use them, not rely on them because he has no clue. A ref who acts like that doesn't inspire confidence or a sense of fair play.

I don't think either Newcastle or QPR fans will rate his performance too high today. Regardless off his decision making skills, its the manner he goes about it that gets to me. For example, there was a foul just before half time, sweep I think on some Newcastle player. For about 5 seconds the game went on in midfield, no advantages, until the ball was played back to a Newcastle centre back. Then, and only then, does foy put up his arms to wave play on. Why? Does it take him that long to react or decide? Did he suddenly realise he missed the foul? Not a huge decision, but bugs me.

Just seen the Derry booking again on SSN and he does seem to act quickly - I swear I saw a challenge, definitely one in the first half where he played on for a good few seconds until his linesman caught his attention. Then another few seconds later, after being crowded by Newcastle players, the yellow came out. Either it was another challenge, Sky are editing footage heavily, or I'm going mad. Any 3 are possible.
