What has Brazil said?

Head of programming has tweeted "Alan Brazils views are that of his own and not the station"

The ex-Ipswich striker said he "cringed when female reports get players' names wrong" with talkSPORT issuing an apology to its listeners regarding the incident
Radio presenter Alan Brazil has been accused of making sexist remarks during his early morning breakfast show.

The ex-Scotland and Ipswich Town player hosts the show each day on talkSPORT and was today joined by former cricketer Dominic Cork.

The pair were discussing the recent managerial appointment of Helena Costa, who was named the new boss of French Ligue 2 club Clermont Foot yesterday.

She became the first woman to manage at such a level and just the second to take control of a professional male side.

When asked about her appointment, Brazil went on to discuss the rise of women in sport before saying: "It makes me cringe when female commentators get players' names wrong."

A spokesperson from talkSPORT issued the following statement: "Alan's views do not reflect those of the station.

"We would like to apologise for any offence caused."

Brazil's comments quickly made their way on to Twitter with many condemning the presenter and calling for his dismissal.

Although some listeners claimed what he said was fair comment, many were furious at his remarks.

WOW. Alan Brazil on talkSPORT talking about women reporting/commentating on sport. 'It makes me cringe when they get names wrong'

In 2011, Andy Gray and Richard Keys were sacked by Sky Sports for 'unacceptable and offensive behaviour'

The duo made derogatory comments about female official Sian Massey, while video footage emerged showing the former making sexist remarks about co-presenter Charlotte Jackson.
Durhams on Brazils case, just played a montage of Brazils infamous getting names completely wrong live on air...comedy gold

Quite interesting comment from a bloke who can barely string a sentence together. They should pair him up with Gough!!

Some of Mr Brazils comedy gold follows;

Talking recently to TV critic Garry Bushell about the previous evening's BBC gala tribute to the late Bob Monkhouse, Brazil asked: "Garry, how was Bob's health last night?".

And two years ago, the day after actor John Thaw died, he commented: "I was sad to hear yesterday about the death of Inspector Morse, TV's John Shaw."

"John Thaw, Alan" his co-host corrected him.

"Do you know, I've been doing that all morning. John, if you're listening, sorry mate," Brazil replied.

Then there was: "There's a good-feel factor about Sheffield Wednesday" - ALAN BRAZIL

Also: "They gave the Serbian FA a poultry fine"

Finally, a particular favourite: "Levante have gone fourth in Serie A. If anyone can tell me what part of Italy Levante is in, please call. I've no idea" - ALAN BRAZIL

Can't believe they've said that Gerrard has had a better season than Yaya, and even Silva has been better than him, what fucking games do they watch?

Yeah, I heard that too.

More WUMmery, of course. Another pathetic attempt to get people to phone or text in.

And those two change their opinion to suit the discussion. Yesterday, DGIAC called the loan system rotten, yet today, that self-same thick Yorkie stated, when discussing the plan to revamp the Football League, that there is nothing wrong with the loan system.

Presumably, he and/or the producers think that either the listeners don't take in what he says from one day to the next or they don't tune in every day.

Well spotted, that's the whole remit of the station make some outrageous statement get people to ring in

Colin Murray now trying to justify why the media ignore City, he has made the point that we are not a story anymore as we are expected to be title challengers for years to come, weird logic, my head has gone, im going back to bed to nurse my hangover
Danny Murphy being nice to us

I heard him say this as well, and whilst he is correct about the future, he misses a key point.
He seemed to be intimating that City are top, and so they should be as they have the best squad (yawn) etc etc.
Yes, City are going to be a powerhouse in the Premiership for many years, but the point he misses is this.......
Irrespective whether you have the best squad, manager, fans, funding etc, to be top of such an open league after 37 games is a hell of an achievement, and to the fan of the club at the top, they rightly and deservedly should expect to be spoke about and lauded......if Liverpool top I would imagine it would be different.
Not being funny, but it's not like you are about to bore the arse of everyone and win it for the 10th time running (yet).
I genuinely think these lot are there just to provoke a reaction sometimes, they are so far removed from reality it's worrying.

Noel Gallagher is usually on the Cundy-Goldstein show at night ripping the piss out of the rag, should be fun with Brazil, if Brazils not careful Noel will demolish him, you can bet he's not done his homework on Gallagher
