just tuned in. what was the reason he gave?

'he's got starts for man city, we don't see any reason why he shouldn't get starts for Chelsea.'

'A real hard decision for him to leave city, he appreciates what they've taught him.' (name checked Pointon, Cassell, Pearce, Eriksson and Hughes)

'An opportunity to join a champions league club'

Saggers:
It wasn't just about the money was it?

*pause*

'I assure you he would have been a millionaire at city...' blah blah some shit about playing for england in the future.

Fair play to Dean... from what I heard he wasnt out of order, or making anything up to defend Danny's decision, just emphasizing that he is an ambitious player whilst dodging the question of how this move helps him in any other way apart from 'chelsea are a champions league team'. oh, and the money.

there is a view I have that this is all something of a compliment to CITY and our 'project'

Has anyone info on how much he is going to be paid? I have not heard

I would doubt it will be much more than CITY were offering - and the fact is that he has decided at the end of the day that he has more chance of breaking into the Chelsea side than the side CITY are assembling

Well - just think of that cold fact - a player has to break into a side and the one he thinks he is more likely to be successful at achieving this is Chelsea not CITY - says a lot for where we are going.

Chelsea have been after him for years. I seem to remember there was talk of them offering £1m when he was a 15 year old with us, then they were interested again before he signed his professional contract at 17. His head was turned by them long ago I reckon.

Thought his answer to "what about SWP?" was crap...

still looks to me like it was money that did it... he will not get a look in apart from MAYBE the odd 5 mins when the game is already wrapped up.

good point, but i just think it's because they've been atfer him for a while now and they finally get thier man..

Contradicted himself saying he didn´t want to leave and that he accepted the offer but ....... yeah we know the but - 2m quid signing on fee - also constant references to the "family"

I find it quite amusing (& not a little ironic) that people seem to be slagging Danny off for wanting a move for more money,
