I dont mind saunders really. Hes clearly thick as shite but hes like a harmless simpleton

He was talking shite this morning when Pep mentioned about how difficult it is to compete for 4 trophies and the league slip games in for TV etc. Saunders was going on about hating it when foreign managers come into the English league (he's welsh lol) and start telling us how to run it. What the thick twat didn't realise was that Pep was also mentioning about how it holds English team back in Europe
Saunders was all high and mighty about the PL being the best with all the best teams and players wanting to be in it, a quick look at the last 10 yrs of champions league winners tells a different story

Players from all over the world DO want to be in it, but mainly for the ridiculous amounts of money sloshing around. Now don’t get me wrong, I’d rather the lads on the field got it instead of the boards of the clubs but the majority of top players in this country are here for the cash. If Italy or the Portuguese leagues could offer the same a lot would be there instead. Fair enough imo. Short career.

I don't buy this short career crap with footballers. Premier league players are earning in a week, what it takes a bloke with a decent job to earn is 5 years, so in 10 month he will earn a lifetimes money. That equates to them in 1 year earning 5 times what you would in your working life, and that's not the top earners or lowest paid manual workers

What Saunders and the other ex pros on the punditry gravy train who have failed in management seen to forget is if the game today wasn't as high profile attracting these players pricks like him would be on the scrapheap. Instead they earn a decent crust spouting bollocks and offering no insight whatsoever.

My point was nearly all the foreign players over here are here mainly due to the wages on offer here. Of course some could earn what they get at the very top clubs in Europe if they’re good enough, but the likes of Huddersfield and Cardiff can probably match the wages on offer at say Milan or Benfica.
The short career comment is that it’s often over in say 10-15 years, they need to make sure they can make the maximum they can in that period of time.
I don’t begrudge them a dingle penny and much prefer it to the days of players getting buses to games whilst the chairman rolls up in his Rills Royce.
