Yet another product of the English public school system - a caricature of the type indeed but the usual braying Hee Haw loudmouth - had his old man been able to afford better than Uppingham school he would have been a shoe in for the Bullingdon Club

From Wikipedia:

Vaughan was educated at a state school, St Andrew's Primary School in Totteridge, Barnet and later at two independent boarding schools, the Bramcote School, Nottinghamshire[citation needed] and Uppingham School, Rutland.[5] During his school years he showed a talent for comedy,[3] playing the violin and singing.

So what happened?
Where's Rutland? i'v heard of it but it's always been a bit of a mystery to me!

It's next to Leicestershire. It disappeared after local government reorganisation in 1974, but regained 'independence' in 1997. It's the smallest English county.

Did his entry mention anything about him being a convicted drugs dealer who's served time as a guest of Her Majesty?

I think it does - he mentions it occasionally on his show.

I know quite a few people who went to Uppingham School and none are even remotely as insufferable as Johnny Vaughan.

That's not saying much, though, is it, GDM?
